  • Suzanne & Donald

"We have been lucky to rent this wonderful retreat the past year and look forward to renting for two weeks in mid to late September. The screened porch is our favorite spot, and we have a hard time not sleeping on it as we hate to miss the beautiful view. We visited Shelbourne Museum our last visit as well as a few of the breweries. What fun! Anything you'd want to do is right at the house or 1-1/2 hours away tops. We brought our kayaks and paddled over to Lake House for a great dinner and entertainment. This house is not a luxurious retreat; it is a mountain cabin; but we think it is the best. We highly recommend you visit. The price is right."

  • Exactly what we were looking for

"We were looking for a beautiful, serene spot for a relaxing vacation and that's exactly what the property provided. The house is charming -- it's amazing what they've done with its little footprint -- it feels really spacious. The view is spectacular -- I felt at times as though I was on a ship. The kitchen is well-appointed -- I was happy to cook most of our meals because I had everything I needed on hand. The location is great for Vermont sightseeing, which we did a lot of -- Middlebury, Woodstock, and Burlington are all not far and the drive is lovely We followed up on several recommendations the owner had made and all were great -- the Castleton Village Store in Castleton, the Barge Canal antique warehouse in Burlington, the Baba-A-Louie's bakery in Rutland, the Lakehouse Pub and Grill in Hubbardton (though I agree with the owner that the view's the draw more than the food!). The vacation was so relaxing that we fantasized about quitting our urban life for Vermont!"
