  • Beautiful House, Beautiful Lake

"My family (wife, mother, stepfather, sister, Charlie our dog) and I had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful house at the end of August 2014. We had never been to this part of the U.S. It was a beautiful drive up from New York City. Coming from the south Isle La Motte is one of the more remote Champlain Islands and you have to cross multiple causeways. While the area is remote it is certainly not wilderness. On the other hand, it is not a place where you can drive a couple of miles and easily find a place to eat or buy groceries. The house has a great layout and it is perfect for the type of family trip we imagined. The large 1st floor living space and the open kitchen make for a perfect shared experience. The house has all the necessities and more in abundance. It doesn't have cable TV. For some of us this was a surprise. The property is right on the lake and going out on the deck and catching the breeze and the sun shining off the lake was a favorite thing to do. The deck was also the site for a memorable barbecue. We did some fun things while there: renting kayaks and rowboats, hiking around the Mt. Stowe area (admittedly a bit of a drive), eating out at the local restaurants (good if not great cooking). We were a bit disappointed by the lack of local farmer's markets and fresh produce, but perhaps, we didn't know where to go. All in all, while the area didn't WOW us; our consensus was the house and its comforts were GREAT and for that reason I've given 5 stars."

  • Just lovely

"I just stayed at this rental for a 3-day Labor Day weekend. I got married on Saturday and used it as a place for my bridal party stay at the night before, the elderly guests that couldn't camp the night of, and me and my husband to stay the night after. It was SO fabulous. I'd recommend it to anyone. Very spacious and loved the hammock. It was a great place to do per-ceremony pictures at (there's a rustic barn) and was so cozy. I'd definitely look into this place if you're getting married at Button Bay State Park."

  • Perfect Place on Lake Champlain

"Our group of 10 had a fantastic weekend at this incredible property right on the water. Remote enough that we felt like we had the lake to ourselves, the cabin slept us all comfortably and the large dining table enabled us to have really fun communal dinners together. We used the grill for a cookout, had a lively game of horseshoes, and a few of us even braved the cold lake water! The owner was very helpful and prompt in answering any questions. We'll definitely come back as soon as we can!"

  • One of the best vacations we've ever had!

"This rental is right on Lake Champlain and the view is one of the best views you will ever see in your life - gorgeous sunsets every night! My camera was over-used! After many days of sightseeing, we chose to have dinners at the house because you couldn't find better atmosphere anywhere, even though there were a variety of places to eat nearby! The kitchen was quite large and well stocked with all necessary supplies to cook a variety of dinners - we kept it simple. We fished one day on a chartered small fishing boat and we have never caught so many fish in our lives - VERY LARGE! We caught 40 lbs. of fish! We went into Montreal, saw a cheese factory, Ben & Jerry's, chocolate factory, Sherborne Museum and hit the Fall foliage at its peak! Between the beautiful farms, fields, lakes and mountains, that area is really an escape from any "big city". The house was perfect with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for all - who wants to stay in a hotel when you can enjoy the beauty and freedom of a home! I highly recommend it for a great location to see what Vermont has to offer which is a lot! We can't wait to go back next year! (The owner was extremely helpful and available for any questions/problems you might have which is a BIG PLUS - thank you so much!)"
