"We had a fabulous week, weather was perfect, house was great, neighbors were so nice!
Perfect location for kayaking, cycling and exploring VT islands, NY and Canada. We had a day trip to Fort Lennox in Canada! what a delightful discovery! Amazing sunsets every night and a glorious full rainbow one evening. Thanks for the cozy home for the week!"

"My family (wife, mother, stepfather, sister, Charlie our dog) and I had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful house at the end of August 2014. We had never been to this part of the U.S. It was a beautiful drive up from New York City. Coming from the south Isle La Motte is one of the more remote Champlain Islands and you have to cross multiple causeways. While the area is remote it is certainly not wilderness. On the other hand, it is not a place where you can drive a couple of miles and easily find a place to eat or buy groceries.
The house has a great layout and it is perfect for the type of family trip we imagined. The large 1st floor living space and the open kitchen make for a perfect shared experience. The house has all the necessities and more in abundance. It doesn't have cable TV. For some of us this was a surprise.
The property is right on the lake and going out on the deck and catching the breeze and the sun shining off the lake was a favorite thing to do. The deck was also the site for a memorable barbecue.
We did some fun things while there: renting kayaks and rowboats, hiking around the Mt. Stowe area (admittedly a bit of a drive), eating out at the local restaurants (good if not great cooking).
We were a bit disappointed by the lack of local farmer's markets and fresh produce, but perhaps, we didn't know where to go.
All in all, while the area didn't WOW us; our consensus was the house and its comforts were GREAT and for that reason I've given 5 stars."

"My family stayed in this rustic and warm home for a long weekend in October and had the time of our lives. You feel isolated from the world on an incredible peninsula with spectacular southwest facing sunlight. We brought our bikes and within just a few minutes ride down quiet West Shore Road, we stumbled across a lovely winery, then an apple orchard, then antique shops... and just a 5 minute drive was wonderful horseback riding through the Fall colours on trails. We enjoyed BBQ meals on the picnic table overlooking the lake, as well as canoe rides and basketball in the yard. We can't wait to return with our other children in 2015!"

"We had a wonderful stay at Maya. A four generation group from ages 3 - 87 were all able to stay together at one place. Plenty of room for family dinners, with enough smaller spaces for groups to be apart when needed (like the 3-yr old nap time). Even though our weather was not completely perfect, we were able to get out on the lake in the canoes and have one day of good swimming and floating time. The owner is very accommodating and quick to respond to messages. Be careful on the steps to the auxiliary house after it rains - they get very slippery, and one of us took a tumble! Fortunately, just bruises, but it's something to watch out for."
