  • Peaceful retreat in VT

"My family was looking for a quiet Vermont getaway, and the schoolhouse more than fit the bill. The views are amazing--as soon as we pulled into the driveway, we knew we had found the right place for us. The house itself is spacious and comfortable, with a great kitchen, large dining room and living room, and master bedroom with a small gas heating stove--a nice touch. Our young son enjoyed the many toys and games (not to mention the trampoline). The schoolhouse was a great home base for us as we spent the weekend exploring the area and relaxing. If you're looking for a beautiful, serene place to unwind, this is it. Highly recommended!"

  • Remarkable home. Visually stunning, while still cozy and amazingly equipped.

"My family traveled to the Couching Lion from Georgia to meet up with our New Englander family members over the New Year. All of us were astounded by this home. The views from here are beautiful and the home is a wonder in and of itself. Even with gorgeous, soaring beamed ceilings, it remained cozy and warm. Thoughtful use of energy-smart construction such as radiant floor heating and foam insulation was clearly employed with a wonderful outcome. We encountered unseasonably cold, below zero temperatures (frigid, even according to the locals) but we were always content inside the home. The kitchen, according to the chefs in my family, was the best equipped they had ever seen. There is a fabulous buck stove to snuggle up next to and a large living room for family board games and movie watching. The open floor plan on the main floor allows for great flow and conversation. Then, there is ample room in the upstairs and downstairs bedrooms for sleeping and relaxing. The home is incredibly clean and Zeph and Beverly are warm and easy to communicate with. Due to the polar vortex we encountered, we only skied two days. Still, we were delighted with the variety of things to do nearby. The kids enjoyed sledding down the hill behind the elementary school for about 30 mins until toes began screaming. The tour of Ben and Jerry's was a hit with all. Our top two favorites, though, were the glass blowing demonstration at the local gallery and the tour of the Trapp Family Lodge. We were pleasantly surprised by the in-depth history and great storytelling we enjoyed at that Lodge. I think that even those who are not big Sound of Music Fans will like it. We highly recommend this home for a memorable vacation any time of year!"

  • Wonderful home, area and hosts

"We just completed our week stay at this wonderful log house. The house is immaculate and the yard and plants were just gorgeous. High quality kitchen amenities made our cooking adventures even better. Our hosts were super responsive and made us feel very welcome. The Mad River Valley has a vast array of fun things to do and we ran out of time, before we ran out of activities. We rented Mtn Bikes for the week and rode Blueberry Lake trails, swam in the Mad River, hiked and attended a great music festival. it was hard to leave and we plan to be back next year. I highly recommend this property if you are visiting the area."
