  • Gorgeous House, Convenient Location

"My group and I stayed at this wonderful house for a fun fall weekend. Not only was the surrounding area gorgeous with the fall foliage, the house itself was gorgeous too. The house comfortably slept 10, and there was ample space to spread out. Our host was very accommodating and made sure everything was in perfect shape prior to our arrival. I highly recommend this rental to others."

  • Comfortable

"Wir haben uns in dem cottage, bzw. Gästehaus eines großen Hauses sehr wohl gefühlt. Alles war sauber, geschmackvoll eingerichtet und gemütlich. Perfekt wäre es gewesen, wenn wir auch einen Sitzplatz draußen gehabt hätten, da das Wetter sehr schön war."

  • A bathroom to fit every personality.

"Arriving at the Battenkill mansion the first thought is that the side of the building doesn't quite reflect the image I'd conjured up in my head. Walking around front and through the front door into the foyer, past the baby grand piano and two incredibly comfortable chairs, the images and experience blend together. The space is magnificent - the online photos evoke more of a real estate transaction and in my opinion fail to capture the character that the space holds. A splendid character, to be clear. For a retreat centered on leadership development and environmentally focused participants, the dynamic space invites engagement - internally and with others - and creativity. That said, while I was personally comfortable with the space's intensity, particularly with regard to the art, there were some in our group who experienced the art as distracting. This particular person also came to some exciting revelations, which to me speaks to the power of experiencing discomfort. Logistically, the space was very clean, spacious and welcoming. Our group had 23 people during the days and we may have experienced a TP shortage towards the end. We couldn't find extra and have passed that info on to the inviting hosts who will ensure that it's addressed for future guests. Access to the commercial kitchen space, the freedom to explore and get comfortable was a big part of our group's enjoyment and productivity in the space. We're grateful for the level of trust and responsibility that's placed on guests and I hope the hosts would agree that it was respected. The posts's title reflects the diversity and number of bathrooms available. We MAY have fit upwards of 20 people in one of the tubs for both a photo and a mini-presentation. It's like having a popup meeting space available throughout the house... if only we'd held one in the third stairwell where Gorski prints are collecting dust (yes, it's that filled with art). Visitors have trails to explore as well as nearby attractions like the Lincoln home, farms, and the town of Manchester. The other buildings and amenities of the property are also available so our response to the VT summer weather was a dip in the pool at the Wilburton Inn, a short walk from Battenkill. If it hasn't been made clear in my description, yes I would encourage friends, relatives and certainly other retreat groups to stay in this space. I absolutely hope I have the opportunity to do so again."

  • An amazing home with incredible history

"What a wonderful home! We so enjoyed our stay and absorbed as much of the amazing history as we possible could. We stayed a week and each day brought new discoveries! The owner Is a lovely lady who cherishes this family home and is beyond helpful with any need. Instead of cooking, please enjoy the local eateries for a real taste of New England! You will probably come to this home for some sort of outdoor activity or event. But please, please, take some time to slowly walk through each beautiful room and immerse yourself in the history! It will be a stay that will create memories that you will have with you always! Our stay was Oct 1 - Oct 7. Thank you Sheila for a memorable and treasured stay at your home! Kay"
