  • Winter Wonderland Cottage

"My husband and I could not have been happier with our selection of this property as the location for our 30th anniversary celebration! With "nicer" hotels in Vermont listing rates at over $500 - $750 a night (specifically we were looking at the Equinox, the Woodstock Inn and The MountainTop Inn in Chittenden) we decided to search VRBO to find a more budget-friendly choice. This cozy, beautifully decorated and recently renovated 2 bedroom cottage was a wonderful surprise with new appliances in the kitchen, radiant heated tile floors in the kitchen, entry way and bathroom, and lovely wide-planked hardwood floors in the living room and dining room area. The property was beautifully clean, and well-maintained by extremely responsive management company who regularly showed up to plow and shovel us out after each snow event. The owners couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly and seemed genuinely pleased to share this cottage with appreciative guests. With the Equinox Hotel just a short walk away for cocktails, dinner, or a day at the Spa and numerous opportunities for day hiking and exploring at Hildene (the Robert Todd Lincoln estate) and the Equinox Preserve, you literally would not have to get in your car if you didn't want to. We took the short drive to the Wild Wings Cross- Country ski area in Peru, VT and had the most amazing day of skiing on beautifully groomed trails, capped off by a delicious lunch of homemade soup and delicious pizza at the newly renovated Hapgood's General Store in Peru. Of course, I would recommend this property to family and friends, with the only hesitation that they may start booking there and we won't be able to get in ourselves!"

  • Perfect family getaway!

"This adorable cabin was fantastic for a family getaway at a reasonable price. Manchester is such a wonderful place and town was at our fingertips at this particular location. The cottage was extremely cozy, surprisingly spacious and down right spotless. Our family of 6 and our sweet chocolate lab enjoyed our stay very much! Our girls loved sleeping in the loft and mom and dad enjoyed having a quite bedroom to ourselves on the first floor away from the pillow fights! A fun time was had by all. We would certainly recommend this great place to others. We will be back!"

  • A bathroom to fit every personality.

"Arriving at the Battenkill mansion the first thought is that the side of the building doesn't quite reflect the image I'd conjured up in my head. Walking around front and through the front door into the foyer, past the baby grand piano and two incredibly comfortable chairs, the images and experience blend together. The space is magnificent - the online photos evoke more of a real estate transaction and in my opinion fail to capture the character that the space holds. A splendid character, to be clear. For a retreat centered on leadership development and environmentally focused participants, the dynamic space invites engagement - internally and with others - and creativity. That said, while I was personally comfortable with the space's intensity, particularly with regard to the art, there were some in our group who experienced the art as distracting. This particular person also came to some exciting revelations, which to me speaks to the power of experiencing discomfort. Logistically, the space was very clean, spacious and welcoming. Our group had 23 people during the days and we may have experienced a TP shortage towards the end. We couldn't find extra and have passed that info on to the inviting hosts who will ensure that it's addressed for future guests. Access to the commercial kitchen space, the freedom to explore and get comfortable was a big part of our group's enjoyment and productivity in the space. We're grateful for the level of trust and responsibility that's placed on guests and I hope the hosts would agree that it was respected. The posts's title reflects the diversity and number of bathrooms available. We MAY have fit upwards of 20 people in one of the tubs for both a photo and a mini-presentation. It's like having a popup meeting space available throughout the house... if only we'd held one in the third stairwell where Gorski prints are collecting dust (yes, it's that filled with art). Visitors have trails to explore as well as nearby attractions like the Lincoln home, farms, and the town of Manchester. The other buildings and amenities of the property are also available so our response to the VT summer weather was a dip in the pool at the Wilburton Inn, a short walk from Battenkill. If it hasn't been made clear in my description, yes I would encourage friends, relatives and certainly other retreat groups to stay in this space. I absolutely hope I have the opportunity to do so again."

  • Beautiful house

"We were a large group of family and friends with 4 small children. This house is beautiful. It is meticulously maintained, very nicely decorated, and has all of the amenities you would need. It is an easy drive to skiing at Stratton and a very close walk to Manchester town for restaurants and shopping. Kevin, the owner, was very friendly and responsive to any and all questions. We would definitely recommend this house and return for another stay."
