  • Excellent time in Stowe with family and dogs!

"We had a fabulous time Thanksgiving weekend in a wonderful log cabin nestled in the woods just north of Stowe. We were able to bring our dog and our daughter and son-in-law brought their dog. With 11" of snow already on the ground when we arrived, and 2-3 more inches accumulating over Thursday and Friday, we had a great time snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the area. The cabin was perfect for relaxing. The woodstove was perfectly adequate keeping the warm. We did not need to use the heater at all. The kitchen was perfect for preparing our Thanksgiving dinner and other meals. The owner has a cabin nearby and is a most wonderful person. In addition to hiking and relaxing, we recommend Lost Nation brewery just a few miles north on highway 100 - great beer and great food. We definitely recommend this property to others!!"

  • Beautiful and charming

"We stayed at the Butler House for four nights in this meticulously decorated one bedroom. Everything was top of the line from the furniture to the kitchen and bath. It was comfortable and quiet... Just what we were looking for. We loved the room, the location (being close to shops, restaurants and Stowe Mountain). We will definitely be back for more vacations in the future!"

  • A wonderful stay!

"We just returned from a lovely week at Denise's rental home in Stowe, Vermont. The home was absolutely beautiful--cozy, clean and comfortable. It was so nice to sit on the couch with the gas fireplace going on one side and a picture-window view of snow-dusted evergreens on the other. Denise, our hostess, was a delight throughout the booking process and our stay. It really makes the whole experience of renting a private home so much nicer when you have a good feeling about the owner, and we certainly did. The photos of the property included in the posting are helpful, but I must agree with another reviewer that they don't even do it justice. The place surpassed our expectations. Plus there is a two-headed shower! One of my favorite things after skiing. And how nice to have an attached garage so you can load the car in comfort despite the weather! The home is also in a great location both for convenient access to the mountain for skiing and to the village of Stowe for dining, touring and walking the Recreation Path. Harrison's was a particularly great place for dinner (recommended by Denise), and we also enjoyed the Whip and O'Grady's. In addition, if you plan to stay in, the kitchen in the house is well equipped. We cooked several meals and loved the open kitchen layout. We were so happy with our stay here and would definitely recommend it to friends and family. And of course, we hope to have the occasion to come back in the future as well! Thank you, Denise!"

  • Remarkable home. Visually stunning, while still cozy and amazingly equipped.

"My family traveled to the Couching Lion from Georgia to meet up with our New Englander family members over the New Year. All of us were astounded by this home. The views from here are beautiful and the home is a wonder in and of itself. Even with gorgeous, soaring beamed ceilings, it remained cozy and warm. Thoughtful use of energy-smart construction such as radiant floor heating and foam insulation was clearly employed with a wonderful outcome. We encountered unseasonably cold, below zero temperatures (frigid, even according to the locals) but we were always content inside the home. The kitchen, according to the chefs in my family, was the best equipped they had ever seen. There is a fabulous buck stove to snuggle up next to and a large living room for family board games and movie watching. The open floor plan on the main floor allows for great flow and conversation. Then, there is ample room in the upstairs and downstairs bedrooms for sleeping and relaxing. The home is incredibly clean and Zeph and Beverly are warm and easy to communicate with. Due to the polar vortex we encountered, we only skied two days. Still, we were delighted with the variety of things to do nearby. The kids enjoyed sledding down the hill behind the elementary school for about 30 mins until toes began screaming. The tour of Ben and Jerry's was a hit with all. Our top two favorites, though, were the glass blowing demonstration at the local gallery and the tour of the Trapp Family Lodge. We were pleasantly surprised by the in-depth history and great storytelling we enjoyed at that Lodge. I think that even those who are not big Sound of Music Fans will like it. We highly recommend this home for a memorable vacation any time of year!"
