  • Remarkable home. Visually stunning, while still cozy and amazingly equipped.

"My family traveled to the Couching Lion from Georgia to meet up with our New Englander family members over the New Year. All of us were astounded by this home. The views from here are beautiful and the home is a wonder in and of itself. Even with gorgeous, soaring beamed ceilings, it remained cozy and warm. Thoughtful use of energy-smart construction such as radiant floor heating and foam insulation was clearly employed with a wonderful outcome. We encountered unseasonably cold, below zero temperatures (frigid, even according to the locals) but we were always content inside the home. The kitchen, according to the chefs in my family, was the best equipped they had ever seen. There is a fabulous buck stove to snuggle up next to and a large living room for family board games and movie watching. The open floor plan on the main floor allows for great flow and conversation. Then, there is ample room in the upstairs and downstairs bedrooms for sleeping and relaxing. The home is incredibly clean and Zeph and Beverly are warm and easy to communicate with. Due to the polar vortex we encountered, we only skied two days. Still, we were delighted with the variety of things to do nearby. The kids enjoyed sledding down the hill behind the elementary school for about 30 mins until toes began screaming. The tour of Ben and Jerry's was a hit with all. Our top two favorites, though, were the glass blowing demonstration at the local gallery and the tour of the Trapp Family Lodge. We were pleasantly surprised by the in-depth history and great storytelling we enjoyed at that Lodge. I think that even those who are not big Sound of Music Fans will like it. We highly recommend this home for a memorable vacation any time of year!"

  • Wonderful condo!

"This is a beautiful condo. It's well maintained and has charming decor. The back deck is lovely! The kitchen is well supplied with most any kind of pan and utensil to cook anything your heart desires. And there are many charming restaurants and shops nearby. The views from the front deck and the whole setting there is cozy, magnificent and perfectly Vermont! This is from someone who grew up in Vermont and holds it dear to my heart. We would highly recommend "Skyview" condo to anyone."

  • Excellent choice!

"My wife, two kids and I stayed here for 3 nights over the February break, and had a fantastic time! The space is perfect for a family: there is a master bedroom, and another bedroom with two bunks (4 beds), perfect for kids with a friend or two. Everything was clean and ready: we brought a cooler and a couple of bags of food and we were all set. The house is in a very quiet, mountain road setting, perfect for a night walk on the road, not a sound except the wind in the trees. We had bad weather one day so we didn't ski, but the location is a perfect launch to go do other things, and for skiing it's only 15 minutes to the Stowe resort. We also enjoyed the hot tub. A very cozy place: we couldn't have asked for a better house or location, and I'd certainly rent here again! In addition, the hosts were totally accessible and responsive. Thanks!"

  • Comfortable House, Great Location

"We stayed for part of President's Week at this house with another family. Each of us have 2 kids ages 4-9. The layout of the house is perfect. There is a family room downstairs where the kids hung out and watched movies and played Wii (which we brought). The main floor has the kitchen, dining room living room with fireplace and the Master with king and full bath en suite. Upstairs is the mini-master, a bedroom with 2 twins and another with bunks and a twin. There is a full bath in the basement and on the second floor and PR on first floor. All told, plenty of room for two families of four plus. The owners are an absolute pleasure to work with, very responsive and all of the amenities are available without a hassle. Very relaxed communal attitude. I would really give the house 4 1/2 stars if possible, as there are always little things here and there with older rental homes: loose knobs, wonky shelves, trouble running multiple showers at a time, older hot tub. However, the house, including the linens and kitchen, is very clean and well maintained. You absolutely cannot beat the location and views! Five minutes from Mt. Mansfield and one minute from awesome apres ski. The house is an excellent value even during peak season and I highly recommend it and will stay again."
