  • Perfect Getaway

"We loved this place! It was even bigger than we expected and could have slept many more people. It was clean, spacious, and had all of the amenities we needed. The view and the land was beautiful. Luckily it was right around the corner from where we needed to be. The owner is friendly and worked with us to make this rental happen. Hopefully we'll be going back again!"

  • Neat and clean and exactly as advertised

"This home was in the perfect location for the event we were attending. We loved that it had two bedrooms with kingsize beds and two bedrooms with queen size beds, perfect for four couples. Also, having three bathrooms was a plus. It was neat and clean and exactly as we were told it would be. The kitchen and dining area were large enough for our crew for breakfast and one evening meal. On the first night we ate at Simon Pearce's Restaurant, it was outstanding. Two things I will comment on. Some of us like to read before retiring. The light in some of the bedrooms was not the best for this. Also, we never know what the coffee situation will be like when we rent a place such as this. There was a coffee pot there, but we forgot to bring coffee. Could I recommend a keurig? We have found that several places are now providing them. It would be easy and if it is advertised, renters could just be sure to bring their on k cups. We ended up just going to a dunkin' donuts for coffee. Overall wonderful weekend."

  • fantastic stay

"Three generations just spent five beautiful days at Squabetty and had a wonderful time despite some cool and some rainy days. The house has an unusual layout which made the stay all the better figuring out where to go. We were four families : grandparents and 3 families with children between 2 1/2 to 10 (9 of them). The barn was a great hit with ping pong as well as a large area for the 2 year old to use the old tricycle. The suspension bridge was fun every time we crossed it. The kids thought it was an adventure. Some other activities: hiking to the waterfall and beyond; use of the pool briefly (very cold) ; tether ball; swing set; great games and toys in the sun room. we had great dinners in the living room where we set up a double table to hold all 16 of us. We highly recommend this very comfortable, homey, remote place. The driveway about 1.5 miles was a challenge the first time but afterwards just a 10 minute ride. The only thing that could be improved was water pressure. the house was very clean and comfortable."

  • Charming place to spend a vacation

"Four of us from the Midwest spent a week in this charming lakeside camp during peak foliage color. The camp itself is very clean and super comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed just hanging out on the dock, the deck, or enjoying the view from inside. We really had a good time taking in the fall foliage festivals in the surrounding small towns. Groton State Forest is very close and offers a variety of interesting hiking options and amazing scenic views. Farther away attractions we took in were the Shelburne Museum and Mt. Washington. We never ran out of things to do, but, if we did there was a lot of information about nearby activities and attractions in books and folders at the camp. The owner was very helpful in answering questions about the best time to visit, how to get to the camp, and in making sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and relatives - in fact, we already have! This is a beautiful part of the state, and a perfect place to stay to enjoy it."
