  • Beautiful House, Beautiful Lake

"My family (wife, mother, stepfather, sister, Charlie our dog) and I had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful house at the end of August 2014. We had never been to this part of the U.S. It was a beautiful drive up from New York City. Coming from the south Isle La Motte is one of the more remote Champlain Islands and you have to cross multiple causeways. While the area is remote it is certainly not wilderness. On the other hand, it is not a place where you can drive a couple of miles and easily find a place to eat or buy groceries. The house has a great layout and it is perfect for the type of family trip we imagined. The large 1st floor living space and the open kitchen make for a perfect shared experience. The house has all the necessities and more in abundance. It doesn't have cable TV. For some of us this was a surprise. The property is right on the lake and going out on the deck and catching the breeze and the sun shining off the lake was a favorite thing to do. The deck was also the site for a memorable barbecue. We did some fun things while there: renting kayaks and rowboats, hiking around the Mt. Stowe area (admittedly a bit of a drive), eating out at the local restaurants (good if not great cooking). We were a bit disappointed by the lack of local farmer's markets and fresh produce, but perhaps, we didn't know where to go. All in all, while the area didn't WOW us; our consensus was the house and its comforts were GREAT and for that reason I've given 5 stars."

  • Best house rental in VT!

"This was our second year in this beautiful home. The fit and finish of the home makes it very comfortable and inviting for all age groups. Mike and Victoria are gracious hosts and take a lot of pride in their home. The improvements made from one year to the next make it obvious that they care as much about their home as they do the people renting it. The personal touches are wonderful and make this an ideal rental. When we rented the house last year we left behind some personal items. When we arrived this year, we found that Mike and Victoria had held on to our items; they were wrapped and labled for us and put out with a delicious plate of brownies and a bottle of wine with a personal note to welcome us. I have never experienced such personable and thoughtful landlords. We loved the upgrades to the house such as the chef's stove and ceramic, wood like tiles in the lower rec room. Simply cannot be beat this property; views, amenities, warm home and owners! Thanks again for being such wonderful hosts-"

  • Judy from Florida

"This is an excellent home for a large family with children. The location is great - between Stowe and Waterbury. Close to skiing, snowmobiling, Ben and Jerry's, and great restaurants. We highly recommend the Hen of the Wood restaurant in Waterbury. The dining experience was superb. We were very comfortable during the late winter storm. Even though the driveway was plowed, we were glad we had a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Wonderful family retreat."

  • Perfect for our family!

"My family rented this townhome over Christmas week (from Dec 24 - Jan 1) and it fit our needs to a tee. The location is just great, just a very quick walk to the Sachem trail. We loved that we could buy our ski tickets each morning at the new bubble chair and didn't have to go down to the base of the mountain at all the whole time we were there. We also loved the hot tub on the deck - we used it every single night that we were there. The master bedroom was on the top floor and the three kids' rooms were all on the bottom floor with the living room, dining area, and kitchen on the main floor, so my husband and I had some nice privacy in our room which was quite nice. The kitchen had everything that you could need for cooking, so we cooked our own dinner every night which saved us having to spend lots of money eating out. The owner was nice enough to leave basic condiments like ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc. in the fridge for us as well as a plethora of spices that we used each night. One of the best features of the townhome was the HUGE mudroom where we were able to put on our ski boots each morning. When you have a large family, it is almost impossible to get everyone ready at the same time, but we had no trouble doing this with such ample storage space in the mud room. Overall, I would highly recommend this townhome as a family ski rental. We will definitely return!"
