  • Perfect Autumn at High Shelter Farm

"High Shelter Farm is the epitome of perfection. In addition, Grace, the host, is the personification of elegance. Since the family resides on the premises, nothing is wanting & questions are answered when asked. All this, and more, is there just for you. Clearly, this 270-acre paradise is the finest property we have yet to rent, regardless of location or price. If you’re looking for privacy, peace and solitude, this is the place. If you want a vacation property nearby to major resorts, look no further. If you’re looking for awesome scenic views from inside or outside the premises, this is it. If you want a winter wonderland, we would believe that you’d find it here. Randy, Grace’s husband, told us that we hit peak-week for autumn foliage. If it can get any better than we experienced, we can’t imagine where that could possibly be. We took so many gorgeous photos just traversing the ½ mile driveway that it took over 30 minutes just to make it up to the house. Another ½ hour melted away as we drove from the house back to the highway, snap, snap, snapping all the while. When hiking on well-marked trails, or coming and going, we were always treated to antics of Tess & Liza, beautiful, young & playful farm pups that never seemed to run out of bubbly energy. Ranch-raised apples were plentiful to feed Molly & Summer, the appreciative donkeys that always brayed when we were spotted. Nearby ducks, chickens, and sheep added to the ambiance along with fresh eggs, a king-size bed with an excellent mattress, large bathroom with 2 sinks, BBQ grill on a private patio, internet access, & fresh flowers. Oh, we were invited to & did partake of the many herbs, fresh each day, for our salads. Large-scale maps, lists of things to see and do were right at hand. While motoring to explore the surrounding countryside & mountains, we were greeted by Vermont beauty and hospitality everywhere we went. But we were constantly beckoned back early each day to enjoy all that High Shelter offered. What could be better?"

  • Winter Family Getaway

"For the second year in a row, our extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, etc.) stayed at Amee Farm Inn for Christmas week. What a great place to hang out and relax after the frenetic holidays! Some of us enjoyed taking long walks on the back roads of Pittsfield, while the young families with children booked sleigh riding excursions nearby or hiked the trails of the farm across the street. Many of us went off visited local towns like Woodstock, for lunch and novelty shopping. While last year we thoroughly enjoyed sleigh riding on the hills of Amee Farm, this year there was no snowfall. That is not to say that we were disappointed, as there are so many fun things to do in the area. The innkeepers at Amee are very helpful and give you a choice of having their presence throughout your stay right in the Inn or just contacting them on their cells should a problem arise. One day we noticed it was chilly in the main room and after one call to the innkeeper, a maintenance man showed up to remedy the situation. I highly recommend Amee Farm for large groups and my one suggestion is that guests book the place as a large group as opposed to various families who don't know each other staying there together. I say this because I believe that although the 15 bedrooms can accommodate different small groups, the main rooms are not conducive to privacy among strangers. Our large family felt very, very comfortable hanging out together and spreading out throughout the Inn."

  • Lucky Find for Skiers!

"What a great option this is for quality, fair value lodging within walking distance to slopes! If you've done your research, there are very few of the Season condos where you can "view" photos of what you're renting. I learned that many rentals haven't been updated. This lovely, end unit condo located on the second floor (a short flight of steps) is even better than the photos! It's located in the highest area of the complex, close to the Seasons Pass trail. A lot of natural light flows into the living area. On one side, there is also a view of mountainous topography through bare trees. Personable attention to detail has been provided in decor, well-equipped kitchen and comfy beds. The combined sitting area/dining room is more spacious than I expected. From the beginning, when I had contact with Alicia, who was just a delight to speak to, I had a feeling this was a lucky find, now I confirm it! AND, the ski conditions were phenomenal !!!!!!"
