  • Great place to stay and extra great when it's raining!

"Wonderful, clean and lots to do even if it rains! Located between Damascus and Abingdon so it's easy to bike ride into both towns and the Winery is within walking distance of the cottage! Great place....will definitely be back!"

  • Wonderful Private Home In Historic District - Don't Miss It!

"I am so glad I chose this place in Abingdon. They renovated it beautifully, so that it has every modern convenience but the look of days gone by. The beds are very comfortable...we slept very well. The kitchen is completely outfitted and has high end appliances. The walk-in shower is beautiful. The water pressure could be better, but it wasn't an annoyance. I only mention it in case you want the shower to really blast you. The cozy den has a great TV, and there is a separate living room for those who need more space. The location is superb...right across the street from The Tavern Restaurant, which was excellent. And a short block away from Rain, another good place. Walking up Main Street is a history buff's delight. The town was built beginning in the 1750's or so. There is an excellent little local history and genealogy museum/library in the old train station, within walking distance if you don't mind a walk of about a mile. Lots of shops and galleries are in the neighborhood. We intend to stop here every time we are in Abington. I suggest that local folks who have guests in town and need a couple of extra bedrooms think about treating them to this lovely, cozy home."

  • Better than expected!

"What a wonderful little cottage - perfect size for a small group or a couple! Literally steps away from the Virginia Creeper Trail and close to everything downtown. Thoroughly enjoyed the walk to restaurants and shops. The interior of the cottage is beautifully decorated and the owner's are beyond hospitable! Would definitely recommend and will certainly stay here again if available!"

  • A Perfect Picturesque Retreat to the Mountain

"I found this gem on VRBO looking for a place somewhere between our home in Tennessee and our close friends' home in the northeast where we could meet and spend some quality time together. Sherman was very friendly and easy to work with and made us feel comfortable before ever getting there (Thank you, Sherman!) Our two families together had 7 kids total ranging in age from 7 to 19. At the end of the trip, every single child expressed their satisfaction with this location and said they didn't want to leave yet. The 16-year old even went on to say that this goes to top of his list for favorite family vacations. We thought this was incredible because we went NO WHERE after arriving there. The cabin was a perfect place for our group of 11. Plenty of room, lots of bathrooms (4 full), and a fully equipped huge kitchen where we could all congregate at meal time. The large great room was a perfect spot for playing games by the fire or just visiting and being together. But what is most fabulous about this cabin is the unbelievably picturesque setting of this property. It took our breath away many times a day, despite having no sunny weather the whole 4 days we stayed. We hiked the trails right from the property and took in some of the most incredible views imaginable. We visited the horses on the property regularly and the kids enjoyed playing by the stream that runs in the valley down the hill from the cabin. We even caught two of our normally quiet and hard-to-please kiddos chatting and laughing together while swinging in the hammock on the back porch. Bottom line - this is what it's all about...escaping the rat race and enjoying the simple life surrounded by nature and great people. Pack your games, hiking boots, food, books, and favorite people and get ready to RELAX! You'll love it here!"
