  • Beautiful Change from the Beach

"We decided to stay in this area as it is about halfway home from our vacation spot in Hilton Head Island and our home in Central Ohio. Since we were checking out of our Hilton Head property on a Friday morning, we figured we'd drive six or seven hours or so and then have a nice weekend in the mountains before heading back home. We were traveling with two of our college-aged sons plus the fiance of one and a friend of the other, for a total of six adults. We had a very nice weekend in this mountain chalet and would definitely recommend it. The view from the deck are incredible, and it's just lovely and quiet. We lucked out with the weather, as well, and had a nearly cloudless, blue-sky weekend. The home itself is comfortable. We made ourselves at home in the master suite while the kids took over the downstairs bedrooms. The master suite is a good-sized bedroom with a very small bathroom with a walk-in shower. There is a small sitting area right outside the master suite at the top of the stairs. There are two bedrooms downstairs, both with queen-sized beds and a bathroom to share. We could not locate any sleeper sofa or futon in the downstairs rec room, so not sure about that. Our son's friend just slept on the couch down there. Also, there's a half bath off the rec room, as well as a washer/dryer. We traveled to the Food Lion right across the NC border upon our arrival and stocked up on groceries for the weekend so we wouldn't have to go back out. The roads to find this cabin are very twisty and steep and we didn't want to have to navigate these unfamiliar roads after dark. We ate dinner that first night at Gondola's (I think that's the name), an Italian restaurant near the Food Lion. The food was good and the portions were extremely generous. We ended up taking home about six doggie bags. All in all, we found this mountain chalet to be quite comfortable and would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the area."

  • Great house, great location, great customer service!

"Eight of us stayed here for the William and Mary Labor Day weekend football game and we will definitely be staying here again. The house has tons of space, we could have easily had more people stay with us. Highlights include the huge steam shower and the giant back porch! Anita was incredibly nice and helpful throughout the entire process and was always available to answer any questions we had. We couldn't have asked for anything more and can't wait to book another trip to the Red Tin Roof!"

  • College Friends Weekend

"Four friends of 40+ years spend a weekend together every year at one of our homes. This year we decided to pick a central location so no one would have to drive too far. We were so lucky to find the Crooked Cabin. This is a cozy and charming property close to everything in Abingdon. We were able to do everything we normally do -- go shopping, eat out and in, and just sit around and catch up with each other. The Crooked Cabin was very comfortable. Each room is appointed with lovely antiques and decorations. We slept well in comfortable beds, and we had no problem finding everything we needed for preparing meals in the kitchen. We all agreed that we would recommend the Crooked Cabin and will likely return there for a future girls weekend."

  • Amazing!

"The house is so clean and comfortable. We were in Whytheville for my Mother's 91st birthday. My children and I slept there but the best part there was enough room for my siblings to visit. We sat at the kitchen table and shared so many memories. It was so wonderful to have a place we could share. The owner was WONDERFUL! The house had everything we needed to fix meals and plenty of bed linens. We can't wait for My Mother's 92 nd birthday!"
