  • Fantastic property

"There are two star attractions with this rental: 1) the house itself is beautiful, comfortable, with lots of space and all of the creature comforts. The bedrooms are large and each has a bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have direct access to the back deck which leads us to the other attraction: 2) The View - I grew up in that part of Virginia with lots of trips to the parkway. I had never seen a view from the parkway that magnificent until our stay. Watching a thunderstorm move across the valley or clouds engulf everything but the mountain peaks was part of our daily routine. The only sound came from the birds in the day and cicadas at night. The property is very secluded and hummingbirds were the only other guests we saw all week. Chateau Morrisette is a beautiful winery nearby that serves lunch/dinner most days. Floyd is also a lot of fun, especially on Friday nights with live bluegrass. I have stayed at several cabins on the parkway and this was by far my favorite. I would also like to mention that the owner is very engaged and strives to make sure your stay is pleasant. The week before we arrived, a power surge struck and fried a few of the major appliances as well as some circuits. Everything was repaired or replaced quickly and I know a lot of effort was required to get everything working again. I was kept informed and urged to report anything not working properly (but everything was great)."

  • Wonderful Private Home In Historic District - Don't Miss It!

"I am so glad I chose this place in Abingdon. They renovated it beautifully, so that it has every modern convenience but the look of days gone by. The beds are very comfortable...we slept very well. The kitchen is completely outfitted and has high end appliances. The walk-in shower is beautiful. The water pressure could be better, but it wasn't an annoyance. I only mention it in case you want the shower to really blast you. The cozy den has a great TV, and there is a separate living room for those who need more space. The location is superb...right across the street from The Tavern Restaurant, which was excellent. And a short block away from Rain, another good place. Walking up Main Street is a history buff's delight. The town was built beginning in the 1750's or so. There is an excellent little local history and genealogy museum/library in the old train station, within walking distance if you don't mind a walk of about a mile. Lots of shops and galleries are in the neighborhood. We intend to stop here every time we are in Abington. I suggest that local folks who have guests in town and need a couple of extra bedrooms think about treating them to this lovely, cozy home."

  • Great house, great location, great customer service!

"Eight of us stayed here for the William and Mary Labor Day weekend football game and we will definitely be staying here again. The house has tons of space, we could have easily had more people stay with us. Highlights include the huge steam shower and the giant back porch! Anita was incredibly nice and helpful throughout the entire process and was always available to answer any questions we had. We couldn't have asked for anything more and can't wait to book another trip to the Red Tin Roof!"

  • Great Place to Stay!

"The owners were very easy to work with and the property is clean, well-maintained, and exactly as advertised (and very well equipped including dishwasher and washer/dryer). We had a teenager with us and he loved the loft bedroom upstairs. Having one full bathroom for each bedroom is a plus and the small den with futon can serve as a fourth bedroom. As the pictures suggest it has a great view, and is also very close to the bike rental shop and start of the Virginia Creeper trail. Highly recommended for cyclists, among others. Would stay here again if we are up this way. A great experience!"
