"We went to the Peace Lodge for a weekend getaway with another couple. The house is beautiful and very well equipped, including a well appointed kitchen, wood stove, steam shower, etc. The view of the river is amazing. We took several walks up the driveway, which is a bit challenging and great exercise. The only (very minor) issues we encountered were not being able to figure out how to get the pellet stove in the lower level to work, nor the air jets in the upstairs tub. Still had a great, relaxing weekend, even though it rained the entire time!"

"The French Cottage in Abingdon is the perfect combination of comfort and convenience. Located across from the Creeper Trail and within walking distance to everything you could imagine doing in Abingdon from the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning to the Barter Theater in the evening. If you like dining in, the kitchen in the cottage is fully equipped! I felt at home the minute we arrived."

"This was our second time staying in Abby and Mike's fabulous rental home. We had a wonderful time on the Creeper trail (some folks biked UP, others joined them later for the downhill ride) two days in a row and a great time eating leisurely breakfasts, lunches and dinners looking out over the fabulous back yard. Our kids enjoyed themselves in the hammocks, hunting wild strawberries, and playing horse shoes, and we parents enjoyed the freedom to just let them roam. We can't wait to book another trip!"

"This was a wonderful vacation rental!
It is right off VA 58, but far enough up the mountain to be private - we saw no one, except the owner, and a bunch of deer, during our five-day stay. This cabin is on many acres of private property with hiking trails, and very well-maintained roads/driveways.
Ample A/C or heat if you need.
This little cabin was VERY clean and well-maintained, with a great layout. The view at sunset from the back yard was amazing.
The bed was firm and comfortable, with a gorgeous quilt and ample blankets. Water pressure in the shower was a joy, especially at 4000'. There's a built-in heater in the bathroom that I appreciated on chilly mornings.
There are tons of seating/dining options on the deck, the screened porch, or down by the fire pit. Kitchen had everything we needed, and there's a gas grill on the deck.
For those interested in the VA Creeper Trail: The property is about halfway between Whitetop and Green Cove stations.
We spent most of our days hiking and biking, Mt Rogers and Grayson Highlands.
Do know that there is no cell phone service here. There may be Internet if you go down by the lower cabin (access code for that was in our cabin, but we didn't check it out.)
Happily, they allow dogs with no pet fee or cleaning fee = AMAZING.
We use VRBO rentals for our vacations often. This one was the best value, and most comfortable stay I have ever had. Many thanks to the owners!"
