"My wife and I rented this home after a lengthy internet search so we could celebrate my sons's birthday in a relaxed setting. He is hiking the AT and we wanted to give him a couple of comfortable days where he didn't need to "rough it". Renting sight unseen is a bit of a gamble since online pictures avoid negatives and discriptions skip over shortcomings. What a lucky find. The house was all as advertized ... and more. First you notice its curb appeal then once inside its spaciousness and comfortable feeling. Room sizes are generous but not too big. So clean that everything sparkles. Fittings are practical for a mountain home, and the design of the house shows thoughtful consideration of maximizing the views. We have stayed at a number of places in the States and overseas, both modest and high-end, and never had I relaxed so much and worried so little.
Exploring around, we found the grounds were more extensive than I suspected. We all especially enjoyed hiking the trails and my son and I fished the river, which was very clean and easy to wade. After all the exercise, we went directly to the hot tub for a long soak. We plan to return and highly recommend this home to others looking for a quiet getaway."

"Incredible views and a cozy house to compliment it all. The radiant flooring was a luxury I've never experienced but have since looked into investing at my own home. The views and the peace and quiet were second to none. This is a great getaway for those who crave those things; I can't say if the city people would like this area as much but, in all fairness, we didn't want to leave the house once we arrived :) Will be booking again and coming back down to visit soon! Also, Bill (the owner) is extremely hospitable and will answer any questions you may have."

"We stayed at Fancy That over the 4th of July weekend and watched HOURS of fireworks down in the Piedmont at night! The view is fascinating, watching weather systems move over the Piedmont below. You are usually above the showers, and can see wonderful rainbows! Add to that the quiet, cool woods around you and the bug free screened porch and what more could you ask?!! Snoozing in the big recliner with the breeze blowing through the house is next to heaven! Just minutes to the Parkway, and about an hour to Chateau Morrisette with Mabry Mill at 45 minutes along the way. Go the other way on the Parkway to Blue Ridge Music Center. In Fancy Gap, the Lake View Restaurant is good ole time food, and on the other side of the Parkway bridge is a great little sandwich shop tucked back in the woods at the antique shop. Down 52 towards Mt. Airy is a little town called CANA that has many interesting shops, produce stands, and a great restaurant called "The Hungry Farmer" on the left. The owner of Fancy That is most gracious and accommodating. We did meet her, and she is just as charming in person! Wonderful time up there, and we WILL be going back!"

"Me, my significant other, and our two dogs enjoyed our stay at this rustic log cabin over a long weekend. The grounds a secluded, well kept, and remind me of my great grandmother's farm. Inside the cabin was much larger than I thought from the pictures. We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace and woodstove in the kitchen. The décor in and out of the cabin is rustic, eclectic, and very enjoyable to behold. The cabin is filled with cozy quilts and we had no trouble keeping warm. The yard is fenced with a wooden slat-type fence with barbed wire, but it doesn't completely close in pets. Our dogs did great staying in the fenced part of the yard despite that. There are plenty of dishes, silverware, and glassware, but I'd recommend if you plan to cook inside on the electric stove that you bring any pans or cookware needed. There are two grills, a large and small one. There was plenty of bedding and towels/etc. We were looking for a quiet, "unplugged" getaway, and this was perfect! Pam was great, and the fresh cut flowers were a welcoming touch. She had the fireplace ready to go for us, and the whole experience was frustration free and relaxing. Highly recommended. We visited Chateau Morrissette, a winery about 20 minutes away on the blue ridge parkway while we were there (it's also dog friendly)."
