  • Family Get to Gather

"We had a great time in the Fancy Gap area, there were 7 adults and 1, 4 year old. The family enjoyed going down to the lake and exploring the area, with the child. We met some of the families who owned other cabins in the area. The cabin really suited my family and we would like to rent the cabin for 2015 if it is still available for rent next year."

  • Perfect cozy getaway!

"Our stay was amazing! The owner's directions were spot-on, and much-neeed, as this fantastic hideaway is hidden in the beautiful woods off a great two-lane Virginia mountain road. At check-in, the owner greeted us like old friends, though she had never seen us before. The process was quickly completed with housekeeping instructions and local attractions shared. We then followed the driveway from the owner's residence to the cabin. Being greeted by the picturesque sight of a rustic log cabin on a hillside was just a teaser for the wonderful experience to follow. It was just like the on-line pictures, but better in person! The climb to the full-width porch complete with a checkerboard led us to the cozy accomodations inside. Everything one would want for a comfortable stay was provided within the hewn-log walls. Fully furnished with a kitchen, dining area, living room, bedroom and bathroom, it's comforts were better than home! It would have been easy to project back to a frontier time when life was simpler, but electricity, satellite TV, and WiFi were clues that modern conveniences were provided and welcome. The bed was so restful and the sunlight streaming through the spotless windows signalled the new day had arrived just in time for an invigorating breakfast with strong coffee from the provided coffeemaker. The cabin was a nice "Home base" to embark from and return to during a day's activities. It instantly felt like home and was not easily left behind as we returned to the real world in a couple of days. I highly recommend this rental for anyone seeking peacefulness and a refreshing recharge from life's daily duties. Indulge yourself with this one!"

  • Beautiful Change from the Beach

"We decided to stay in this area as it is about halfway home from our vacation spot in Hilton Head Island and our home in Central Ohio. Since we were checking out of our Hilton Head property on a Friday morning, we figured we'd drive six or seven hours or so and then have a nice weekend in the mountains before heading back home. We were traveling with two of our college-aged sons plus the fiance of one and a friend of the other, for a total of six adults. We had a very nice weekend in this mountain chalet and would definitely recommend it. The view from the deck are incredible, and it's just lovely and quiet. We lucked out with the weather, as well, and had a nearly cloudless, blue-sky weekend. The home itself is comfortable. We made ourselves at home in the master suite while the kids took over the downstairs bedrooms. The master suite is a good-sized bedroom with a very small bathroom with a walk-in shower. There is a small sitting area right outside the master suite at the top of the stairs. There are two bedrooms downstairs, both with queen-sized beds and a bathroom to share. We could not locate any sleeper sofa or futon in the downstairs rec room, so not sure about that. Our son's friend just slept on the couch down there. Also, there's a half bath off the rec room, as well as a washer/dryer. We traveled to the Food Lion right across the NC border upon our arrival and stocked up on groceries for the weekend so we wouldn't have to go back out. The roads to find this cabin are very twisty and steep and we didn't want to have to navigate these unfamiliar roads after dark. We ate dinner that first night at Gondola's (I think that's the name), an Italian restaurant near the Food Lion. The food was good and the portions were extremely generous. We ended up taking home about six doggie bags. All in all, we found this mountain chalet to be quite comfortable and would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the area."
