  • A Little Piece of Heaven

"WOW! Pilot's Perch is absolutely gorgeous and perfectly appointed...from the spectacular views to the many amenities of the cabin. It was beautifully decorated, but yet felt very comfortable! Roxanne is wonderfully accommodating and such a pleasure to deal with. On our short visit we biked the New River Trail State Park and the Virginia Creeper Trail (a must do if you love the outdoors). The many features we love about this place was the close proximity to the Parkway, sunrises & sunsets, jaw-dropping views, the fire pit for making S'mores, morning coffee in the cedar rocking chairs and of course the hot tub after long days of cycling. We are already planning our next visit, thank you so much for sharing your gem with us!"

  • peace and quiet

"I travel extensively for work and stay in hotels for what seems like an eternity. I was working in the area and instead of staying over for the weekend in my hotel room, I decided to find a place up the road in the mountains. I had stayed at several other locations nearby, but they were all booked. I found this one and I was really glad I did. It was just what I needed for the weekend. Very quiet and extremely clean and comfortable. Dianne was great to work with and very accommodating in working with my schedule. The cabin is very homey, well decorated, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The view is incredible from the deck - I spent much time there reading and enjoying the view. If you want some exercise while there, try walking down the road to the pond and back. It almost did me in! Thanks again Dianne for all your help. I hope to be back soon."

  • Perfect place for a mountain getaway

"We stayed in the condo for a long week-end. The listing/photos were accurate. It was so comfortable! Everything was sparkling clean. This is a very quiet area so we were not bothered by any partying or such ( perfect place quiet getaway with the kids. Note: Condo is on lower level and there are stairs). The condo is well-stocked and has been well taken care of, very nice! We all remarked how comfortable the beds were and how well we slept. It is a little drive to get there (not a negative) but we went into Mount Airy each day for Mayberry Days and had no issue with the drive. There are antique stores and farm markets close by. The views are beautiful . We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it!!! Also, the owner was very helpful and nice."

  • Beautiful Change from the Beach

"We decided to stay in this area as it is about halfway home from our vacation spot in Hilton Head Island and our home in Central Ohio. Since we were checking out of our Hilton Head property on a Friday morning, we figured we'd drive six or seven hours or so and then have a nice weekend in the mountains before heading back home. We were traveling with two of our college-aged sons plus the fiance of one and a friend of the other, for a total of six adults. We had a very nice weekend in this mountain chalet and would definitely recommend it. The view from the deck are incredible, and it's just lovely and quiet. We lucked out with the weather, as well, and had a nearly cloudless, blue-sky weekend. The home itself is comfortable. We made ourselves at home in the master suite while the kids took over the downstairs bedrooms. The master suite is a good-sized bedroom with a very small bathroom with a walk-in shower. There is a small sitting area right outside the master suite at the top of the stairs. There are two bedrooms downstairs, both with queen-sized beds and a bathroom to share. We could not locate any sleeper sofa or futon in the downstairs rec room, so not sure about that. Our son's friend just slept on the couch down there. Also, there's a half bath off the rec room, as well as a washer/dryer. We traveled to the Food Lion right across the NC border upon our arrival and stocked up on groceries for the weekend so we wouldn't have to go back out. The roads to find this cabin are very twisty and steep and we didn't want to have to navigate these unfamiliar roads after dark. We ate dinner that first night at Gondola's (I think that's the name), an Italian restaurant near the Food Lion. The food was good and the portions were extremely generous. We ended up taking home about six doggie bags. All in all, we found this mountain chalet to be quite comfortable and would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the area."
