"group of five rented Amanda's hide-away for the weekend. Our goal was to ride on the Creeper Trail which made this a very convenient place to stay. The house was very nice and had everything we needed including a dog that adopted us for the weekend. Saturday turned out to be very rainy so the lack of internet was a problem since we kept wanting to see the updated forecast and couldn't. We made do by calling family members with internet to give us an update. Otherwise, we enjoyed our time playing endless card games and an afternoon visit to Abingdon. Sunday the weather cleared and the Creeper was on. The folks at the Creeper Trail Shuttle in Whitetop were extremely friendly and helpful by answering all of our questions and getting us off on our journey. I definitely would return again to Amanda's Hide-away."

"We rented two properties from Lakewood. What a wonderful experience. Sherry and her husband own the Lodge and manage the other properties are the nicest people you will ever meet. The Lodge is absolutely adorable! I was really stressed preparing for a wedding and they helped so much with their kindness! We will definitely stay again for just a relaxing vacation. It is a quite, peaceful beautiful surrounding!

"My wife and I rented this home after a lengthy internet search so we could celebrate my sons's birthday in a relaxed setting. He is hiking the AT and we wanted to give him a couple of comfortable days where he didn't need to "rough it". Renting sight unseen is a bit of a gamble since online pictures avoid negatives and discriptions skip over shortcomings. What a lucky find. The house was all as advertized ... and more. First you notice its curb appeal then once inside its spaciousness and comfortable feeling. Room sizes are generous but not too big. So clean that everything sparkles. Fittings are practical for a mountain home, and the design of the house shows thoughtful consideration of maximizing the views. We have stayed at a number of places in the States and overseas, both modest and high-end, and never had I relaxed so much and worried so little.
Exploring around, we found the grounds were more extensive than I suspected. We all especially enjoyed hiking the trails and my son and I fished the river, which was very clean and easy to wade. After all the exercise, we went directly to the hot tub for a long soak. We plan to return and highly recommend this home to others looking for a quiet getaway."

"We stayed for 2 weeks instead of getting a hotel and it was wonderful. It was close to most of the places we wanted to go.We were able to make our own meals without eating out all the time.It was very comfortable and look forward to staying here again."
