"We stayed at Fancy That over the 4th of July weekend and watched HOURS of fireworks down in the Piedmont at night! The view is fascinating, watching weather systems move over the Piedmont below. You are usually above the showers, and can see wonderful rainbows! Add to that the quiet, cool woods around you and the bug free screened porch and what more could you ask?!! Snoozing in the big recliner with the breeze blowing through the house is next to heaven! Just minutes to the Parkway, and about an hour to Chateau Morrisette with Mabry Mill at 45 minutes along the way. Go the other way on the Parkway to Blue Ridge Music Center. In Fancy Gap, the Lake View Restaurant is good ole time food, and on the other side of the Parkway bridge is a great little sandwich shop tucked back in the woods at the antique shop. Down 52 towards Mt. Airy is a little town called CANA that has many interesting shops, produce stands, and a great restaurant called "The Hungry Farmer" on the left. The owner of Fancy That is most gracious and accommodating. We did meet her, and she is just as charming in person! Wonderful time up there, and we WILL be going back!"

"My wife dreams of retiring in a log home on a stream and nestled in the woods. While we're not there yet, I was able to give that to her at the Fancy Gap HideAway for a few short days. She was delighted. The cabins are immaculate and extremely well-equipped, with an attention to detail rarely seen. For those considering a nice getaway, these cabins come highly recommended. The area is so very peaceful. The Golden Eagle is a little more "woodsy" and has a nice view of the stream from the porch. It is also a little closer to the rushing water sounds generated by a small cascade. The Black Bear is a little less closed in by the trees. Both share a nice common deck area down by the stream with individual picnic tables to enjoy the stream up close. We will definitely return!"

"We are bicyclists who booked a last-minute 3 night stay at Riversong Farm. The house was in a lovely country setting and very clean and tidy. It was less than 1/4 mile to the Alvarado Station on the Virginia Creeper Trail, with an 8 mile ride into Abingdon and about the same distance to Damascus. The garage was a perfect place to store our bikes and had a ping pong table plus lots of games for children. In the evenings we enjoyed the front porch and watching the fireflies. However, the house would not be good for anyone with phyical limitations. Being a remodeled older farmhouse, the floors were at different levels, with a step up or down between the rooms. Also, the toilet in the half bath was on a raised platform about 1' high, and was a bit awkward to negotiate. We had a great stay, loved the area and the trail and would definitely rent this house again."

"Beautiful property tucked away. Fresh flowers were in the cabin when we arrived. It was very clean and we had everything we needed. it was indeed rustic but that was what we were looking for. Lots of history inside and outside. I would recommend it to anyone looking for peace and quiet."
