Great place to stay!
"I stayed with two other women for 2 nights. It was a lovely place to be- quiet, private- we loved the river view. The makings of coffee and breakfast were provided, as were all-important wine glasses and a corkscrew! The A/C unit worked great. We really enjoyed our stay."

"My family of 4 (with 3 & 6 y.o.s). Had a great time at Afton cottage. The location was fantastic. We were 20-30 minutes from so many things. We enjoyed Monticello, Michie Tavern, peach picking, apple picking, Skyline Drive, a waterfall hike in Shenandoah NP, the Frontier Culture Museum, downtown Staunton, and Luray Caverns.
After all our adventures, it was great to be able to relax at Afton Cottage.
It was wonderful to be able to have separate sleeping and hanging out areas from the kids (as opposed to a hotel). And you couldn't beat the wonderful sound of the cicadas in the trees. I think I had the screen door cracked the whole time we were there. And the stars. At night, the stars! You never see so many closer to cities because of light pollution. Wound up being a nice place to try to view the Leonids.
The cottage was cozy, but spacious for our family of 4. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, as well as enjoying take out and leftovers from eating out.
I am allergic to dogs, so I was a little concerned that they do allow dogs, but the house was well cleaned, and they don't allow them on the furniture. I didn't see a single dog-hair dust-bunny. Dick was quick to answer any questions or concerns I had.
I look forward to staying here again!"

"We rented La Fourche for a weekend wedding at Pippin Hill Winery. In leu of a rehersal dinner the night before the weeding, we decided to have a BBQ at the house so all the guests could get to know each other. People came from all over the country. The house was a perfect place for entertaining. We had lots of kids there and they had a blast running all over and loved the rope swing. The highlight though were the firefly's that came out as none of the children had ever seen any and they were enchanted ! It was a very successful night and enjoyed by all, not in any small part due to the amenities of the house. Connie is extremely easy to work with and always prompt with her email replies. I would highly recommend it for large family gatherings and we are so happy to have had such a wonderful, once in a life time experience. Thanks Connie !"

"My family and I truly enjoyed our stay at Thoroughfare. I went with my 4 married children and 6 grandchildren ranging in ages 3 to 14. There was something for all of them to do. Originally we had planned several side trips, however, everyone felt so relaxed and loved the farm I could not get them to go anywhere, we did pick blueberries on day. My daughters said they preferred the farm to the beach since there were no toys, umbrellas, chairs and stuff to lug around, all we needed was provided."
