  • This Changes Everything!

"Two families, twelve happy people. This house is centrally located at Lake Anna and provided a great week for our families. The kitchen has everything for great meal preparation, the screened-in porch was Games Central. The sunrise came up right in the Great Room. Plenty of dock & swimming space. Simply beautiful. My wife and I are now looking for a Lake Anna home!"

  • Great family vacation home

"Sixteen of us we in this house and had room to spare. Wonderful house, well equipped with plenty of deck chairs. We had a place on Deep Creek Lake in Md and sold it because of the lake traffic. This location was perfect, quiet and very little boat traffic. Swimming, boating and fishing right off the dock. Kids had fun catching LARGE catfish. No body wanted to clean them so they were released for the next family. Had a problem with air conditioning and repair man was there within the hour."

  • Perfect Lake House For Family Bonding

"Our family just returned from our annual Lake Anna Vacation. We have rented five different houses over the years. This lovely jem is exactly as described. The roomy bedrooms provide room for a big family to stretch out. The living area upstairs is well appointed and decorated in a very welcoming fashion. The couches are so comfortable I wanted to take them home! The fire pit located midway between the house and the lake is great for S'more making and family talks after a day in the water. We spent countless hours on the front deck talking and listening to music. There is a private sandy beach located at the end of a wooded path and it is perfect for kids or if you just want to put your toes in the sand. The property has lounge chairs and we took them down to the beach and made our own little lake oasis for the week we were there. The kitchen is very big. We are a big family and we cook all the meals during our lake vacation so it as nice to have a big kitchen to do that in. Nearly everything you need to make your meals are provided but I do suggest bringing your own basic spices as none are provided. The fishing was good as my son caught at least 12 good sized catfish. The boys enjoyed eating grilled catfish for dinner. The location is secluded but close to Food Lion, which is great if you have big eaters like me and need to take many trips to the store. The neighbors who were building a house next door were wonderfully sweet and even helped one of our friends who was having some car trouble. Overall this was a great vacation for our crew. There is no internet as noted in the description but don't let that stop you from visiting. I did bring my wireless card and let myself check my Email once a day but not being connected was actually a great thing. The owners have also left a huge movie selection and have great taste in music for the CD player. I give this house a five star rating because it really has everything you need and nothing you don't. Great getaway for families, couples, groups of friends."

  • 2nd Trip to Lake Anna

"House worked out perfectly for our group. Lower level was great for the kids! House was well kept and functional. Dock was great for swimming off the main portion of the lake. Bummer for the kids that the water trampoline had a hole in it and we could'nt use it. Regardless we love Lake Anna and had a great week!"

Located just 18 miles to the west of I-95, Lake Anna is around halfway between Richmond, VA and Washington DC. It is also easily accessible from both Richmond and Charlottesville. This man-made, freshwater lake is 17 miles long with over 200 miles of shoreline. It is Virginia’s second biggest lake and one of its most popular vacation areas.

What to Do on the Lake

Lake Anna condos are rapidly becoming increasingly popular as vacation destinations. The lake itself is certainly the big attraction. It offers excellent sailing, superb fishing and much more. The fishing enthusiasts head to the north side for the wide variety of fish such as several species of bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, walleye, white and yellow perch. Fishing is so popular that there are local leagues and tournaments to join in with. Those looking to get out on the water will find boat rentals are readily available. The best place for sailing is to the south of the lake where the wide open water provides a great area. While those who are looking for water sports will find the area around the middle of the lake the place to be.

Lake Anna State Park stretches out from the shore and visitors will find this a great place to picnic. It provides launch facilities for boats that are available to the public. There is also a snack bar on the beach as well as an exhibition about the creation of the lake. Within the park, there is mile after mile of hiking and horseback riding trails. Also in the park are the remnants of the old Goodwin Gold Min and visitors may enjoy panning for gold here. While in the park, visitors will want to see the remains of the old plantation house which is easily accessible along one of the hiking trails.

Discover the History of America

Around Lake Anna vacation houses are also a variety of wonderful day trip options. The region is steeped in the history of the United States, particularly the Civil War era. Just a 30-minute drive away is one of the country’s most historic cities, Fredericksburg, dating from 1737. Here, visitors will find fascinating colonial period buildings alongside a delightful selection of stores and restaurants. It really is a charming place to spend a day.

Not far from here is the boyhood home of the first President, George Washington. The site of his boyhood home is at Ferry Farm, where the legend of him chopping down a Cherry Tree began. You'll also find the Rappanhannock River where he threw the silver dollar across it. Visit Washington’s mother’s home and the area where some of the worse battles of the Civil War were fought at Sunken Road at Marye’s Heights. Head to Spotsylvania National Military Park where there are over 5,500 acres of famous battle sites, including Chancellorsville, Old Salem Church and the Stonewall Jackson Shrine, marking the spot where he died. At Staunton, visitors will enjoy the Frontier Culture Museum where they can learn more about the life of the pioneers. This living history museum encompasses four farms.
