  • Wonderful place!

"This is a GREAT place for a large family gathering. Kayaking, paddle boating, swimming .... plus lots of living space for playing games in the evening. There's a nice fire pit to toast weenies and marshmallows too. We're coming back! This was already our second visit."

  • Great weekend at the lake! Very comfortable and welcoming, upscale accomodations!

"My wife and I were at the lake for her birthday weekend and needed a place to stay. We found this condo and contacted Cathy and Steve. They were terrific to deal with. They gave us a lot of helpful information and recommendations regarding where to go and what to do during our weekend stay at the lake. The condo was wonderful! Very tastefully decorated with with very nice personal and hand-made touches (in particular we liked the oar that had been converted to a row of hooks for hanging clothes, towels, etc). The bed was a brand new Sleep Number -- what more can I say about that . . . VERY comfortable. We look forward to staying at Steve and Cathy's condo on our next visit to the lake!"

  • Just Perfect!

"Our family had a fantastic time staying here! The house was very clean and well laid out with plenty of room for our group of 12. There was even enough room for us to all sit at the table together for evening meals. The kitchen was well stocked with all the dishes, pots and pans and cooking utensils you could possibly need. We thoroughly enjoyed the beach, kayaks, swim toys and fire pit. The very private location was a wonderful bonus! This is definitely on the top of our list for a place to return to."

  • Great lake house for all ages

"We had a family get together at this lake house and it was wonderful. All ages from 1 to 80 enjoyed the house in their own way. The kids had so much fun down by the lake, jumping off the dock, trying to catch fish, and sitting by the fire-pit. The older family members relaxed on the outdoor screened in porch and watched the fun from a quiet distance. During the whole week we stayed we barely saw anyone, it was as if we had the lake to ourselves and the water was incredibly warm. The house was remarkably clean and well cared for. It is extremely homey and comfortable with a spacious open floor plan downstairs. The owner has thought of every tiny convenience one can think of to make the vacation that less stressful. Everyone LOVED the outdoor shower as well. If you are looking for a relaxing week - i highly recommend staying here."

What to Do on the Lake

Lake Anna condos are rapidly becoming increasingly popular as vacation destinations. The lake itself is certainly the big attraction. It offers excellent sailing, superb fishing and much more. The fishing enthusiasts head to the north side for the wide variety of fish such as several species of bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, walleye, white and yellow perch. Fishing is so popular that there are local leagues and tournaments to join in with. Those looking to get out on the water will find boat rentals are readily available. The best place for sailing is to the south of the lake where the wide open water provides a great area. While those who are looking for water sports will find the area around the middle of the lake the place to be.

Lake Anna State Park stretches out from the shore and visitors will find this a great place to picnic. It provides launch facilities for boats that are available to the public. There is also a snack bar on the beach as well as an exhibition about the creation of the lake. Within the park, there is mile after mile of hiking and horseback riding trails. Also in the park are the remnants of the old Goodwin Gold Min and visitors may enjoy panning for gold here. While in the park, visitors will want to see the remains of the old plantation house which is easily accessible along one of the hiking trails.

Around Lake Anna vacation houses are also a variety of wonderful day trip options. The region is steeped in the history of the United States, particularly the Civil War era. Just a 30-minute drive away is one of the country’s most historic cities, Fredericksburg, dating from 1737. Here, visitors will find fascinating colonial period buildings alongside a delightful selection of stores and restaurants. It really is a charming place to spend a day.

Not far from here is the boyhood home of the first President, George Washington. The site of his boyhood home is at Ferry Farm, where the legend of him chopping down a Cherry Tree began. You'll also find the Rappanhannock River where he threw the silver dollar across it. Visit Washington’s mother’s home and the area where some of the worse battles of the Civil War were fought at Sunken Road at Marye’s Heights. Head to Spotsylvania National Military Park where there are over 5,500 acres of famous battle sites, including Chancellorsville, Old Salem Church and the Stonewall Jackson Shrine, marking the spot where he died.
