  • Hidden Gem!!!

"We had a WONDERFUL long weekend at this Hidden Gem! My family decided to experience life at the lake one weekend and scoured the internet looking for just the right place for us. Close enough to for a short drive from Lynchburg (it was only 30 miles!) Big enough to accommodate us with enough amenities and comfort to help everyone unwind and have fun...and WE FOUND IT! Warren was very professional and helpful and reserving it was a breeze. All stress melted away once we made our way down the lovely rustic driveway nestled in the tall trees and pulled up to this lovely lake home. The home was clean with everything we needed to make a wonderful memory. Very spacious and had plenty of nooks to nestle in as well as larger areas to spread out. Comfortable seating, plenty of beds and bathrooms, 3 table areas to play board games and enjoy delicious meals. The first night we grilled out with the big gas grill provided. The kitchen was so well stocked my kitchen at home is envious! We enjoyed breakfast on the enormous wrap around deck. The huge basement provided hours of fun as we played many a ping pong and air hockey tournament. We set up the badminton net outside and even enjoyed the leftover pool toys. The gently sloping yard made it easy to enjoy the calm cove & the double docks. Even my 6 yr old nephew could venture out between the docks as it created a nice little swimming area for him. Beyond the docks it goes deeper so my teenage nieces could jump off the docks and have a great time. With a big table and plenty of seating options down at the dock, we spent as much time as we could soaking up the last of September’s Sun. We all felt just like we were at home there. My 60+ mother walks with a cane due to MS and found the home and property easy to get around in. She enjoyed doing puzzles and drinking coffee overlooking this picturesque setting. More people need to know about this little gem tucked away from the hustle and bustle. My niece said she felt like she was in a movie staying there because it really brought you into the woods and the lake setting in such a magical way! We enjoyed our time at the Bridgewater Marina nearby on Sunday evening. Restaurants, Boat rentals, Gas stations, Grocery Stores...all close enough for convince but when you are nestled away at this lake house, the busy rush of the rest of the world disappears! Thanks to Warren for everything. The setting and the price can't be beat! My friend already has booked it for her fam"

  • Lake Time Spring Break 2015

"This was our families second trip to Ramsey's Retreat. The home provides fantastic views of the lake looking towards Smith Mountain. Both the large living area, kitchen and master bedroom capture the beautiful morning sun. During our most recent stay, we used the dock area for our runabout that we use for travel to other parts of SML when the cold spring days allowed. The living area has a gas fireplace that warms the living room on the cold evenings and the open floor plan allowes for great conversation between those in the kitchen and living room. Our first trip to Ramsey's Retreat was a Thanksgiving trip, where our parents joined us. The home provided plenty of space for the six of us to sprall out and enjoy family time watching Alburn beat Alabama in the final seconds of the 2013 iron bowl. Because we have only stayed at the home during the off season months, we have not had the opportunity to utilize the beach area but we have enjoyed the covered back porch and the seating on the dock. Our boys, who follow there fathers fishing abilites, tried there best to catch fish from the dock but made no gains. During both our reservation requests, the Ramsey's where very accomodating and were quick in responding. They obviously have a great love of family and we are very grateful they share there beautiful home with ours."

  • Birthday Celebration with Family ranging in ages from 3 months on up

"Fantastic 18th birthday celebration for our daughter who is an avid fisherman! The house is beautifully situated on the lake with a wonderful dock facility. We had fun being able to walk out of the house to go fishing. Swimming from the dock was fun and there were plenty of blow up pool toys to use in the water. The one man kayak and canoes were enjoyed by all. The house was spacious. The younger children enjoyed the Wii and board games while the older ones played foosball. The living room was spacious with a gorgeous view. Hanging out in the living room watching the baby and still being able to see the children play outside provided a way to still feel a part of all the activities. The kitchen was WELL equipped with pots, plates, small appliances and all the little extras. The above ground fire pit in the backyard and plenty of chairs on the patio provided a great environment at night making s'mores. Being at Covered Porches etched a memory for us all."

  • Birthday Bash was a Huge Success!

"We rented this amazing home for a Weekend 60th Birthday celebration. It is a beautiful home with awesome views of the lake. The pictures online do not do it justice. The house is easy to get to and stocked with everything you could possibly need during your stay. It is spacious and has plenty of room. The hot tub was so nice and the view of the stars was awesome. The outdoor fire pit was perfect for after dinner drinks and cigars. Joe, the owner, was so responsive to questions before arriving and made it one of the easiest and best VRBO experiences we have ever had. He even welcomed us with a card and a lovely bottle of wine upon arrival. Our group went to a local brewery Sat. afternoon and had a wonderful time. We spend Saturday night eating, drinking, and relaxing followed by a fun Brunch on Sunday. The home was so perfect for our needs. Friends who joined us are already considering rentals for themselves and our group is definitely going back at some point. We highly recommend this beautiful home at Smith Mountain Lake!"
