  • Worth it!

"We stayed in this home for a week with another family, so 9 people (4 adults/5 kids) total. The location was great, the view was nice. There was plenty of space for the adults to hang out on the main floor and the kids on the lower level. Nice to have bathrooms with each bedroom. The kitchen, dining and living room space were great. The furniture was all very comfortable. Being close to several of the hiking trails was very convenient. There were a few things to do on the mountain, but if you get cabin fever, you are close (45mins) to Charlottesville and can easily take a day trip to the downtown shopping mall, which is fun. It was great to have a washer and dryer in the home too. There were a few negatives, which didn't take away from our vacation, but I felt they should be mentioned. The stove & oven were older, so it took a while longer to cook and the water pressure in the home wasn't adequate for 5 bathrooms. The home was also showing some wear and tear. There were a few things that were broken in the home-closet doors, pantry doors and the main floor shower stall was off the track. It was also great to be able to bring our dog with us on vacation!"

  • Great getaway!

"This house had everything we were looking for including a hot tub (unfortunately we couldn't figure out how to work it until the last day). There was no need to bring any kitchen items as the kitchen was completely stocked with everything from spices to different types of utensils. Owner of the property was prompt in returning phone calls and made sure that every detail was taken care of! Would love to return when it is actually snowing and could see some wildlife."

  • Great Ski Vacation Home

"We really enjoyed our stay! The kitchen and bathrooms are very well stocked with more than all the basics. The place was very comfortable and we loved the downstairs area for the kids. The only recommendation would be to add a few more blankets for the beds. We just happened to be up there on a very cold weekend and it took a while for the place to warm up so we were all a bit cold the first night. Otherwise, loved everything else about the place! Great location too!! Thank You!!!"

  • Great Location

"My family of four and our dog had a lovely summer vacation at your cabin. We loved the location -- so close to all the Wintergreen activities, yet nestled in those beautiful woods. The kitchen and main bathroom seem to have been updated recently. And the loft was a nice "escape" for the kids when they wanted to watch movies. Our hikes up on the mountain were even more fun since we could bring the pooch along. And down the mountain, we fell in love with Wild Wolf Brewing (dined there several times) and Hard Rock Cider was a fun switch from wine tasting. We'll be coming back again soon!"

Wintergreen Travel Tips

Wintergreen Vacation Rentals in the Heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains

A skier’s delight can be found at Wintergreen vacation rentals that feature ski in and ski out properties so that no time is wasted in traffic. You can choose from condos or homes that are filled with amenities you will not find in a hotel even if you have a suite. Your fully equipped kitchen, spacious living areas, and inviting fireplace plus outstanding views of the surrounding mountainside are great any time of the year. You will not even have to leave the family pet at home when you rent from VRBO as many of the owners allow your four-legged friends. You will not even have to store your skis or snowboards in your vehicle as the Wintergreen condos or homes have a cabinet for them.

Four-Season Attractions Near Wintergreen Lodging

We know that skiing is a big draw in this area yet it is not the only fun you can have when you stay in Wintergreen lodging. Summers are pleasant because you are at an elevation of 4,000 feet which makes great golfing or tennis games available. There are miles of hiking trails along the Blur Ridge Parkway and Appalachian Trail or you could take a mountain bike to explore the mountains and valleys. After a day of outdoor activity, you can relax with your favorite beverage on the deck of your condo or private home. Your host can often give you ideas for day trips in the area that enhance your vacation.

If you like history then staying in the Wintergreen area will give you and your family a chance to visit Monticello, the estate of President Thomas Jefferson. He remained at the estate until his death in 1826. The residence shows evidence of his innovative side with the time-saving inventions that he designed as well as items from Lewis and Clark’s expedition. Visitors to Monticello will find his grave in the family cemetery, as well as an eight-acre fruit orchard, garden, and slave quarters. The University of Virginia that Jefferson founded is in Charlottesville, Virginia and guided tours are available when there are no exams going on. You can bring a lunch with you on your day trips from your Wintergreen lodgings or find restaurant meals along the way.

Include Wine in Your Shopping Trip from Wintergreen Condos

Shopping is a great pastime while on vacation and you never have to worry about storing your purchases when you have a roomy Wintergreen condo or mountain home to return to. There are several wineries in the immediate area off Interstate 64 where you can purchase local wines and see how the wine is made. The Wintergreen shopping district is only minutes away from your door or you can travel to Charlottesville or surrounding towns for more shopping alternatives. Charlottesville has the Historic Downtown Pedestrian Mall that features art galleries, specialty shops and restaurants.

The General Store at Wintergreen Resort offers you a place to purchase wine, cheese, snack food and other necessities as well as clothing, children’s toys and sundry items. Gifts to take back home are prevalent in Wintergreen as well as the specialty stores you will find as you traverse the Blue Ridge Parkway. You will be able to find ski-related items at Wintergreen in case you forgot to bring your gear with you.
