"We visited and stayed at another rental home last year for the 4th of July and wanted to find a place closer to Irvington this year. When looking, we found The Blue House and the location is a perfect jumping point for both Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula sightseeing. The house is convenient to the Tides Inn, restaurants, the Dog & Oyster vineyard and the Irvington Farmer's Market on Saturdays in the summer. The highlight of our stay was being able to roll out of bed and watch the local 4th of July parade, which walks right in front of the home. We enjoyed a few days trips this year to Mathews, Urbanna and Kilmarnock. Of course, no visit to this area is complete without a stop to both Merroir and Northern Neck Burger. If you like to read in bed, pack a book light. We highly recommend this rental home and a visit to this area if you haven't been. It's truly a wonderful small town and a nice getaway."

"My husband and I wanted a low-key/local getaway to celebrate our one year anniversary before our cruise that we were taking in August. I was looking for a place that would allow us an opportunity to relax, not have eat out every meal, visit some vineyards, and bring the dogs. This house scored on all four counts! It is absolutely adorable, with the cutest rooms! The location is amazing - it is in a nice little development, right on the golf course. My husband was so content to just relax in the huge, screened in back porch with a glass of wine, the dogs, and watch the golf course.
The house is close to about four vineyards and a couple of good places to eat. This is also the perfect place for dogs. If it hadn't been 100 degrees that weekend, we definitely would have brought them to the vineyards with us! Instead they were content on staying in the house and laying on the cool wood floors.
I was also happy to see that the kitchen was stocked with supplies, there were plenty of DVDs, and there was satellite tv and wifi. And despite the extreme heat, the house was very cool. And to top it off, the owners were extremely responsive and easy to work with.
Everything was absolutely wonderful at this house and I would definitely come back! I am keeping this location on my wish list!"

"My husband and I stayed in this beautiful, well-appointed home over the 2015 Memorial Day weekend. As others have noted, the views from the house are spectacular. The master suite is quite luxurious, occupying the entire second floor of the house. Our son and his fiancée joined us for part of our visit and we all had a great time crabbing and kayaking. My husband and I loved having the bicycles. The area is very beautiful and quiet-osprey were nesting off the front of the property- and we awoke in the morning to the sounds of birds singing. Do visit the local store and remember to order your steaks in advance. They go quickly!
We had a wonderful lunch at Merrior in Topping, followed by a visit to the Dog & Oyster Vineyard in Irvington, two favorite spots for an outing. Williamsburg and Yorktown are less than an hour away, although you may not feel the need to stray that far from this lovely oasis. We are hoping for another visit!
Thank you Shannon!"

"The entire family thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I can't believe how many crabs we caught in the pots. Local eateries were really good as well; Newsome's for soft-shell crab and clams & fries and the Little River Marcel & Deli for really, really good fried chicken.
The younger generation went to the local beach every day and we even had a good thunder and lightning show one night. We even went to the Carnival in nearby Kilmarnock as well as a Catholic Church on Sunday.
Yes, we would rent from Cheryl and Maurice again, with out a doubt.
