"We visited and stayed at another rental home last year for the 4th of July and wanted to find a place closer to Irvington this year. When looking, we found The Blue House and the location is a perfect jumping point for both Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula sightseeing. The house is convenient to the Tides Inn, restaurants, the Dog & Oyster vineyard and the Irvington Farmer's Market on Saturdays in the summer. The highlight of our stay was being able to roll out of bed and watch the local 4th of July parade, which walks right in front of the home. We enjoyed a few days trips this year to Mathews, Urbanna and Kilmarnock. Of course, no visit to this area is complete without a stop to both Merroir and Northern Neck Burger. If you like to read in bed, pack a book light. We highly recommend this rental home and a visit to this area if you haven't been. It's truly a wonderful small town and a nice getaway."

"This house could not be cuter - the pictures don't do it justice! We had a girl's weekend away to the bay for the 4th of July and absolutely loved it. Sue was beyond accommodating. There were tons of towels, the beds were comfortable, and it's just moments away from restaurants and boutiques. I can't say enough good things about this house! Thanks Sue :)"

"I recently booked a group ranging from toddlers to seniors for a stay at this location. When we turned into the driveway for this property, it was a "booking.yeah" moment for the group! The view here is spectacular. Several in our group had made plans for area activities but canceled these as the week progressed in favor of enjoying time at the property. Everything that is advertised on this site is true, but the house is far better than advertised. From the thoughtful extras the owners have put in the home to the cleanliness and quality of the property, this location will be one of our favorites for years to come. We have already referred others to make reservations for next year!
We also rented the guesthouse for our stay and this additional building was MUCH nicer than expected. If you are considering the extra building, it is just as enjoyable as the main house.
While it is true that the location is away from major roads and businesses, grocery stores, Wal-Mart, and shopping are a shorter drive than we anticipated. The fishing, pool, and views were wonderful.
This was one of the more relaxing experiences my group has enjoyed. I highly recommend this location to all interested parties!"

"We were in town for a wedding and it was such a nice, quiet, relaxing space to come back to in between all the wedding festivities. Everything looks like just like the pics and very clean. The only thing I would say be aware of is kind of steep stairs so don't pack any bag too heavy. Also for the town the restaurants and grocery stores closing times are not correct so if you are wanting to be out a little later be aware things may be closed. And if you are coming to town stop at the grocery store first. Also, a lot of places were closed on sunday including the coffee shop. But we had a wonderful stay and the place was just perfect."
