"My husband and I wanted a low-key/local getaway to celebrate our one year anniversary before our cruise that we were taking in August. I was looking for a place that would allow us an opportunity to relax, not have eat out every meal, visit some vineyards, and bring the dogs. This house scored on all four counts! It is absolutely adorable, with the cutest rooms! The location is amazing - it is in a nice little development, right on the golf course. My husband was so content to just relax in the huge, screened in back porch with a glass of wine, the dogs, and watch the golf course.
The house is close to about four vineyards and a couple of good places to eat. This is also the perfect place for dogs. If it hadn't been 100 degrees that weekend, we definitely would have brought them to the vineyards with us! Instead they were content on staying in the house and laying on the cool wood floors.
I was also happy to see that the kitchen was stocked with supplies, there were plenty of DVDs, and there was satellite tv and wifi. And despite the extreme heat, the house was very cool. And to top it off, the owners were extremely responsive and easy to work with.
Everything was absolutely wonderful at this house and I would definitely come back! I am keeping this location on my wish list!"

"Our eight-person family recently had the pleasure of spending a week at beautiful Grandview Manor. I'm not sure that my vocabulary possesses the proper superlatives to describe this place, but I will try. A lot of times, you look at sites like this, read the glowing description, commit to rent the place, then get there and you get a lot of disappointment because it is nothing like that description. Not the case with Grandview Manor, though. From the moment we arrived amidst the blooming Crepe Myrtle trees, we were struck by the vast area of well-manicured landscaping surrounding the house. As we toured the house and the pool/tennis court area and saw how clean and well-maintained everything was, it became abundantly clear that the owners really care about their customers. The attention to detail is impressive. The huge first floor master suite on the pool side of the house can best be described as opulent. The master suite on the other side of the house is extremely large and well-appointed. The 2nd floor enclosed porch overlooking the water is memorable.
Outside, the tennis court plays very well. It has a high fence. (So very little chasing after errant balls). The pool house has a seating area as well as a mini kitchen with (most importantly) a refrigerator and and ice maker. The pool is is great shape as well, with a fairly new liner and very comfortable chairs on the deck. The dock is also in extremely good shape. It looks like it will accommodate a boat with a fairly deep draft. I can only imagine how much fun it would be to have a boat docked there.
We cooked just about every night and ate in the dining area adjacent to the kitchen. There is a new 5 burner cooktop with a huge oven and a large prep area.
Our family has stayed at many places over the years. Never have I heard so many oohs and ahhs about a place as I heard during the week we were there. We hated to leave and can't wait to get back."

"My husband and I stayed in this beautiful, well-appointed home over the 2015 Memorial Day weekend. As others have noted, the views from the house are spectacular. The master suite is quite luxurious, occupying the entire second floor of the house. Our son and his fiancée joined us for part of our visit and we all had a great time crabbing and kayaking. My husband and I loved having the bicycles. The area is very beautiful and quiet-osprey were nesting off the front of the property- and we awoke in the morning to the sounds of birds singing. Do visit the local store and remember to order your steaks in advance. They go quickly!
We had a wonderful lunch at Merrior in Topping, followed by a visit to the Dog & Oyster Vineyard in Irvington, two favorite spots for an outing. Williamsburg and Yorktown are less than an hour away, although you may not feel the need to stray that far from this lovely oasis. We are hoping for another visit!
Thank you Shannon!"
