"We had such a wonderful vacation at this cottage. This was our first time in the area and going solely off of pictures. It turned out this cottage was beyond our expectations. The location on the bay was breathtaking!
The cottage was actually larger than we needed for a family of 4, so we were able to spread out and not feel confined. When we were inside we stayed in the LV overlooking the bay. My husband and I also slept in the bedroom overlooking the bay. We left the blinds open and woke up every morning to a beautiful sunrise. Our kids loved the bunk beds and shared the room despite having other rooms available. The kitchen was small but sufficient for me to cook most of our meals.
Our private beach was fantastic! There was plenty of space for our family to spread out with all of our stuff. We left our things on the beach all week, since no one could walk by and bother it. In the mornings the water seemed slightly chilly but once you got wet, you didn't think twice about it. In the evenings the water was as warm as bath water. The water was calm with no normal bay "fishy" smell. It was a sandy bottom with no seaweed. You could see the bottom. There were tons of small fish and crabs. I thought my kids might be worried that they were there, but they loved when we pointed them out. I can't say how far we went out, but there was a series of buoys in the water and we walked till the last one. The deepest the water got was about 4 ft. It was perfect for our kids (age 5 & 7) to play in. We had floats to lounge on and boogie boards to play with.
Out further you could see boats go by and one overcast morning we saw a pod of dolphins jumping and playing. There was a public beach 2 houses down, but it was not crowed and we barely saw our neighbors. It felt like our own island.
There is not much to do in the area, except for boating or kayaking. During the week most restaurants weren't open so we went to the Food Lion and cooked at home. We also drove to Gwynn's Island one day for fresh crabs.
The only thing to make our stay better would have been to have wifi. While we didn't need it, it would have been nice to check our emails at night. We drove to the library one day to check our accounts and make sure everything was ok.
Our family loved our time here and we would definitely come back in the future. We would love to kayak in the area one day. There were some private beaches near the lighthouse that you need to kayak too. It looked really cool."

"Our stay at the Crab shack was amazing. Everything was provided for us at the property. There were binders full of information and directions to local attractions, dining, groceries, Etc. Karla was fantastic, she showed us how to crab and then clean the crab that we caught on the pier right outside of our vacation home. The sunrise and sunsets over the bay were perfect. Also the view from the top deck at night was an explosion of stars. Everything was extremely easy from first contact till our last day."

"Our eight-person family recently had the pleasure of spending a week at beautiful Grandview Manor. I'm not sure that my vocabulary possesses the proper superlatives to describe this place, but I will try. A lot of times, you look at sites like this, read the glowing description, commit to rent the place, then get there and you get a lot of disappointment because it is nothing like that description. Not the case with Grandview Manor, though. From the moment we arrived amidst the blooming Crepe Myrtle trees, we were struck by the vast area of well-manicured landscaping surrounding the house. As we toured the house and the pool/tennis court area and saw how clean and well-maintained everything was, it became abundantly clear that the owners really care about their customers. The attention to detail is impressive. The huge first floor master suite on the pool side of the house can best be described as opulent. The master suite on the other side of the house is extremely large and well-appointed. The 2nd floor enclosed porch overlooking the water is memorable.
Outside, the tennis court plays very well. It has a high fence. (So very little chasing after errant balls). The pool house has a seating area as well as a mini kitchen with (most importantly) a refrigerator and and ice maker. The pool is is great shape as well, with a fairly new liner and very comfortable chairs on the deck. The dock is also in extremely good shape. It looks like it will accommodate a boat with a fairly deep draft. I can only imagine how much fun it would be to have a boat docked there.
We cooked just about every night and ate in the dining area adjacent to the kitchen. There is a new 5 burner cooktop with a huge oven and a large prep area.
Our family has stayed at many places over the years. Never have I heard so many oohs and ahhs about a place as I heard during the week we were there. We hated to leave and can't wait to get back."
