"We've stayed in many different places we've found on VRBO, heck we've OWNED a place we listed on VRBO, but this one was really special. The grounds themselves are what people say they are, they are like a park, or a Botanic Garden! I didn't know what Crepe Myrtles were before I got there, but I do now, and they are stunning! The HUGE pines are awesome, the entire grounds are incredible. The house itself is a step back into old Virginia, with books in the library a hundred years old! The dock was our "hang-out" spot, we had blue crab almost every night, the only time we didn't was when we didn't care to! The oysters, OMG, the oysters are RIGHT THERE in the mud, by the thousands!!! We ate them until we popped, and they were wonderful. The pool area is perfect...
But I have to say one of the features of the place the owner doesn't highlight is her Caretaker, who lives around the corner! I had a mishap with an oyster (4 stitches, actually!) and her Caretaker was there in less than 3 minutes with a complete "go bag" with everything needed to clean and treat the wound before I got to the Hospital to get stitched up. I'd add her as a major feature to this place, what price can you put on THAT when you're in a remote area?!
Do NOT miss the White Dog Bistro in Matthews when you go! WONDERFUL mid-1800's building and the food was sensational. Olivia's in Gloucester was very nice too!"

"We had a wonderful week at this Deltaville retreat house! The setting was private and serene, while still being minutes to the grocery store and farm stand. The house had everything we wanted, including 2 kayaks to play with and enough water at the dock for our own 2 boats. Moore's Creek is lovely, and has easy access to the Piankatank River. The house's kitchen is well stocked with good quality utensils, and the provided linens and towels were very nice. The house is very comfortable for two couples. We spent most of our time on the deck, overlooking (or out on) the Creek, but the living room is a cozy, comfortable place to read, talk, or watch movies. The dock is not a good place to swim, but the bird watching is fantastic! We hope to return to this house."

"We were looking for a private place where we could all unwind. No hustle bustle here! Our party included two adults over 50yr, 3 of our children between 21 yr and 27 yr, and 2 girlfriends. We fished, crabbed(crab cages on site), kayaked(brought own), cooked EVERY meal, baked desserts daily. Went to the Vault Field winery(~4 miles away) and got a private tour, went to the state park (~30 minutes north), attended a very friendly local church, played boards games, played pool, did puzzles, RELAXED. Plenty of towels and linens. Kitchen well stocked, even with spices and such that we felt comfortable using, even left a few of what we bought. Fabulous time. hill has an ok area for walking down to the dock. No real beach area per say but there is a large area of sand where you can walk into the water. It gets deep quickly but fine for older children. Dock was perfect and large enough for all of us. Dog even loved the water."
