"5 stars are really not enough. Bill and family go above and beyond -- they don't just rent the home (clean linens, kitchen with utensils, cable TVs, Internet, canoe, kayaks, bikes, fishing rods, etc.)... they want to be sure you enjoy your stay. We caught fish, kayaked, cooked outside by the fire, lay in the hammock... you can keep kids of all ages busy for days without having to go anywhere."

"What can I say, I loved this place from the moment we arrived, after a long journey from Scotland it was so good to arrive at this perfect destination, with 2 bottles of wine and beers in the fridge ,The Fish House at Grandview on the bay was perfect for our party of four, beautifully decorated and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The owners Karla and Dave were the perfect hosts, they made us feel so welcome from bringing us over fresh crab to try, to taking us out on the bay in their boat, and it was great to meet Fredo & Skink their two dogs.We made good use of the pool, kayaks, bikes putting green and barbecue. A highlight of the holiday was a night at Donks Theatre Matthews very own family run Lil ole Oprey, great night.
Matthews Town was a 10 minute drive away with a few restaurants, supermarket and some local shops. Our favourite restaurant was The White Dog with good food and great hospitality, here we met a local couple who kindly invited us to their house and took us out onto the bay in their boat for an unforgettable trip, this just shows the kindness of the people in Matthews. Williamsburg, York Town and James Town were well worth a visit, with excellent designer outlets at Williamsburg. We took a train to Washington DC for an overnight stay, again well worth the trip.
Thank you Karla and Dave for sharing your little piece of heaven with us and I hope to return some day to meet up once again."

"We were looking for a private place where we could all unwind. No hustle bustle here! Our party included two adults over 50yr, 3 of our children between 21 yr and 27 yr, and 2 girlfriends. We fished, crabbed(crab cages on site), kayaked(brought own), cooked EVERY meal, baked desserts daily. Went to the Vault Field winery(~4 miles away) and got a private tour, went to the state park (~30 minutes north), attended a very friendly local church, played boards games, played pool, did puzzles, RELAXED. Plenty of towels and linens. Kitchen well stocked, even with spices and such that we felt comfortable using, even left a few of what we bought. Fabulous time. hill has an ok area for walking down to the dock. No real beach area per say but there is a large area of sand where you can walk into the water. It gets deep quickly but fine for older children. Dock was perfect and large enough for all of us. Dog even loved the water."

"I booked Marina Sunset for a week with my Mom, she's mid 70's, my self and my 2 boys, 11 and 16. The cottage was perfect for us. Plenty of room, outdoor space and the view from the 2nd floor deck is spectacular. Glenda and Jim were there to greet us and once we settled in we felt as if we had the place to ourselves. We rented a golf cart for the week and it was great. We drove all around the community, to the store, beach, dinner. It was very convenient and fun driving it around. Everyone waves at you too! The cottage comes with bikes, which my sons and i used a few times. Jim also provided us with fishing poles, tackle and a net for fishing and crabbing on their neighbors dock. We even caught a few. The cottage is so cutely decorated and super comfy beds and couches. Kitchen fully equipped for cooking in and BBQ grill outside also. We took a day trip to Fredericksburg and we had a great time. Lots of things to do at Colonial Beach and surrounding areas with in an hours drive or less. Im hoping to go back again in the future with my husband in tow. It would be a nice romantic getaway or another great family vacation destination. I recommend staying at Marina sunset. Its everything and more.
Thanks Glenda and Jim, we loved our vacation!"
