"We went for a short visit with one other family and wished we could have stayed longer. This is a beautiful comfortable house - wonderful linens, furnishings and decor. Plus tons of extras - things to take to the beach, games if you stayed in, lots of kitchen items. The kids loved the bunk bed room. We definitely recommend this house!"

"My family spent the last two weeks at Gone to the Beach and had a fantastic time. During out stay we had a total of 6 adults, 2 children and a dog. The house comfortably suited all of our needs. The house was well stocked; the kitchen had everything we needed, there were plenty of towels, linens, toys for the kids, pack-n-plays, board games, movies, bikes, beach toys, etc. One of our favorite things was the outdoor shower as it was a great way to get the sand off the kids before bringing them inside. The beach was an easy golf cart ride away. We loved having access to the golf cart and my husband said it was the "coolest" golf cart on the beach. However, the thing that really set this rental apart from others that we have stayed at was the personal touch by the owners. Ashley has been great to work with from the very beginning, was quick to respond with questions, changes in our schedule and she even called to check on us during our stay to make sure we were comfortable. We will be back later this summer and look forward to staying here again. I would highly recommend this house for a great stay in Cape Charles."

"We had a lovely vacation in Cape Charles and this home was perfect. Everything was just as expected based on the pictures and our conversations with the owners. The house was clean and spacious and the beds were comfortable. We were a family of six - parents, grandparents and 2 kids and we had plenty of room. We enjoyed many lovely meals around the large dining table. Some of those meals even featured crabs we caught in Kings Creek or fish we caught out in the bay. It was so nice to keep our boat at the dock. Coming in was tricky the first time, but Bill gave us great tips and it was easy with practice. We enjoyed playing foosball. The pool was great and it almost felt private since we rarely saw anyone else there.
When we first arrived and went into town for Clam Slam, I wasn't sure about Cape Charles. It just wasn't the "perfect" resort town that I thought I was looking for. Within a very short time, we were all in love with this imperfect, charming little town. I love that the coffee shop closes on a whim because the owner has somewhere to be. I love the same guy sits in front of the hardware store every day. I loved the blend of old and new and a unique local flavor.
I highly recommend Cape Charles for a very laid back vacation. This house felt like home as soon as we walked in. I highly recommend! Thanks Bill & Debbie."

"Rented Heron House for about a week with my wife, baby daughter and dog. It's about a 10 min. walk to the beach, which is beautiful by the way. Soft sand, clean and not crowded. The waves are pretty mild, so boogie boarding might a challenge. We didn't see many lifeguards and weren't hassled for having our dog on the beach after 9 am (no dogs between 9 am and 9 pm).
"Downtown" Cape Charles is basically one street with a coffee shop, ice cream place, pub, jewelry/home furnishing shops and realtors. That's about a 10-min walk from the house too. A little further away is The Shanty, a nice but informal seafood place with really good food. For a more formal/expensive meal there's the Oyster Farm in the other direction. In all, there isn't a whole lot in the neighborhood but what's there is good.
The house itself was clean, comfortable and well stocked with most of what you might need for a week other than food. Everything worked well (stove, A/C, washer/drier, wifi, clothes washer/drier, etc.) so no complaints there."
