  • Beautiful house, amazing views, great location

"This house is beautiful and is in a great location with fantastic views. The kitchen is really nice and updated and almost all the furniture is comfortable and nice too. We loved the dock and overall the house is great. BUT the kitchen has barely anything stocked, no steamer, cookie trays, stuff like that. There were rusty items in the kitchen as well, the coffee maker was in horrible shape too. The deck, which is fairly good size overlooking the amazing view HAS NO CHAIRS what good is having a deck WITH NO CHAIRS? We had to drag our beach chairs back and forth from our car to the deck! And the screened in porch is tiny and can barely fit 4 people and the door when opened blocks almost half the screened porch. The dock has absolutely no seating either so be aware if you want to go down by the dock and enjoy the view, you will be bringing a chair with you. A bunch of doors are old and annoying/hard to open and close. The washer didn't even fill up half way with water so you can't fill it too much when washing. Love island getaways and from all the great reviews it seemed great, I think the owners need to actually take a look at the house they own. Happily this didn't effect our vacation at all and had an awesome time as usual, but for my family who has been coming to chincoteague and renting houses for 15 years, this was disappointing."

  • Tranquil hideaway on the cozy island of Chincoteague

"My husband and I rented the Island Bliss in June 2014. The pictures on here don't do it justice. Affordable, clean, well appointed rental with plenty of book reading areas - on the front porch, living room, the sun room, the back deck next to the pool. The pool was a popular hang out for us. The house is sizeable, we didn't even need to use the upstairs. Couple tips - bring an HDMI cord to hook your laptop up to the tv to watch Netflix. We brought our own kayaks - if you paddle the opposite direction of the lighthouse, you'll see the ponies. Tip: the mosquitos in the hiking areas on Assateague are --immune-- to bug spray. The beach there is quite nice though. Bathroom facilities, close parking and the bugs are not a bother by the ocean. Daisy Cruises offers luxury pontoon boat tours to see the dolphins and ponies and we took the Fish Tales 2-hour fishing trip and caught a shark! Island Creamery has some to die for ice cream. And downtown, there is a ton of art shopping available. We had plenty of relaxation time and activities to do on the island. The house made for a perfect basecamp."

  • Pony Swim Week

"The Sandpiper House is a great place to stay for a family vacation. It is spacious and has everything you need. There are chairs, boogie boards, sand toys and umbrellas for your day at the beach. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is also a charcoal grill. The back deck is big has plenty of seating and is a nice place to sit in the mornings and listen to the crows. I sat on the front porch and watched my girls ride their bikes. McDonald's, Bike Depot, Museum, Assateague Wildlife Refuge, Family Dollar Store, Steve's Market and Pony Tails (candy store) within very easy walking distance. We also walked to the Crab Shack on Maddox for dinner. Master bedroom and bath have been recently renovated. The other two bedrooms worked great for our girls. They shared the twin room. The main bathroom has an updated sink and toilet but could use a sprucing up. Does have stairs to front door and side entrance which we used as our main entrance. Loved the outdoor shower. It looked brand new. Very quiet and friendly neighborhood. The Sandpiper House made a great home away from home. Would definitely stay hear again."

  • Great family week!!

"We didn't decide until March that we wanted to vacation in Chincoteague Island and then only had one week when the six of us where all available. I jumped on the website and found John & Kay's place. We arrived July 5 early in the day and were greeted by Billy who was friendly and welcoming. The house was perfect! Everything we needed! Very clean, comfortable and roomy. We had a great time discovering the islands beach, shops, restaurants and scenery. Just what we needed! John and Kay answered all our questions and offered great tips on places to eat and see along with things to bring with us. Thanks for everything plan to come back."
