  • First Rate!

"Unplugged is a wonderful property on the beautiful island of Chincoteague. We spent Pony Penning Week there with our family of six adults and three children, ages ranging from 1 to 71 years old! We enjoyed the week in this wonderful house tremendously. The house has every amenity you need - bicycles, beach toys and chairs, crab pots and traps, and even a kayak - to make the most of your time outside. It also has plenty of games, puzzles, and comfy couches for napping and relaxing on Island time. The kitchen is easy to use and has every appliance we needed for fantastic family meals. (There's a wonderful produce place on Church Street, half a mile away, for fresh fruit and veggies. And His and Hers on Maddox sells live crabs and incredibly fresh seafood that satisfied even our incredible appetite for good seafood.) Even without the famous ponies, there is plenty to do and see. We couldn't fit it all in. The property is within walking distance to Main Street for strolls in and out of all the cute shops. It's within short biking distance (a couple of miles) from Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge Center and Assateague Islands where there are lovely trails to walk, hike, and bike and beautiful, uncrowded beaches (compared to the Jersey shore) to spend your days swimming, sunbathing, and kite flying. Plus the wildlife is amazing. My children, ages 7 and 10, had a wonderful time. They earned their junior park ranger badges and patches at the two National Park/Wildlife Refuge Centers, biked to their hearts' content, fished and crabbed for the first time (Jimmy at Captain Steve's Tackle Shop is super friendly and encouraging), and thoroughly enjoyed being unplugged. The owners, Greg and Susan, couldn't have been more friendly or more accommodating. They answered our many questions and gave first rate recommendations. The house is in fantastic shape - just right for a week along the Eastern shore."

  • Relaxing weekend on the water

"My husband, daughter, nephew, and I rented this house over the Memorial Day weekend, and we were more than pleased with this property. The house is beautifully maintained, and the listing photos fail to capture the openness and beautiful light. We especially enjoyed the 2 decks from which we could view the water as well as the night sky. We also made use of the sound system with the extensive jazz collection. The bedrooms are all well appointed and bright; the master bath is exceptional with its large jacuzzi tub with view of Assateague Channel. We rode bikes to the beach every day and picked up sandwiches at the Sea Star Cafe as well as at Woody's BBQ. Both places have excellent fare. Having such a well equipped kitchen, we decided to buy fresh shrimp at Gary Howard's Seafood and made our own Creole shrimp. Of course we stopped for ice cream at the Island Creamery! We have been going to Chincoteague for the past 25 years, and this property has been one of the favorites, both for its location and its welcoming atmosphere. The owners are very attentive and were kind enough to arrange for their housekeeper to mail us some clothing we had accidentally left behind. We will definitely return!"

  • Beautiful house, amazing views, great location

"This house is beautiful and is in a great location with fantastic views. The kitchen is really nice and updated and almost all the furniture is comfortable and nice too. We loved the dock and overall the house is great. BUT the kitchen has barely anything stocked, no steamer, cookie trays, stuff like that. There were rusty items in the kitchen as well, the coffee maker was in horrible shape too. The deck, which is fairly good size overlooking the amazing view HAS NO CHAIRS what good is having a deck WITH NO CHAIRS? We had to drag our beach chairs back and forth from our car to the deck! And the screened in porch is tiny and can barely fit 4 people and the door when opened blocks almost half the screened porch. The dock has absolutely no seating either so be aware if you want to go down by the dock and enjoy the view, you will be bringing a chair with you. A bunch of doors are old and annoying/hard to open and close. The washer didn't even fill up half way with water so you can't fill it too much when washing. Love island getaways and from all the great reviews it seemed great, I think the owners need to actually take a look at the house they own. Happily this didn't effect our vacation at all and had an awesome time as usual, but for my family who has been coming to chincoteague and renting houses for 15 years, this was disappointing."
