"Unplugged is a wonderful property on the beautiful island of Chincoteague. We spent Pony Penning Week there with our family of six adults and three children, ages ranging from 1 to 71 years old! We enjoyed the week in this wonderful house tremendously. The house has every amenity you need - bicycles, beach toys and chairs, crab pots and traps, and even a kayak - to make the most of your time outside. It also has plenty of games, puzzles, and comfy couches for napping and relaxing on Island time. The kitchen is easy to use and has every appliance we needed for fantastic family meals. (There's a wonderful produce place on Church Street, half a mile away, for fresh fruit and veggies. And His and Hers on Maddox sells live crabs and incredibly fresh seafood that satisfied even our incredible appetite for good seafood.) Even without the famous ponies, there is plenty to do and see. We couldn't fit it all in. The property is within walking distance to Main Street for strolls in and out of all the cute shops. It's within short biking distance (a couple of miles) from Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge Center and Assateague Islands where there are lovely trails to walk, hike, and bike and beautiful, uncrowded beaches (compared to the Jersey shore) to spend your days swimming, sunbathing, and kite flying. Plus the wildlife is amazing. My children, ages 7 and 10, had a wonderful time. They earned their junior park ranger badges and patches at the two National Park/Wildlife Refuge Centers, biked to their hearts' content, fished and crabbed for the first time (Jimmy at Captain Steve's Tackle Shop is super friendly and encouraging), and thoroughly enjoyed being unplugged. The owners, Greg and Susan, couldn't have been more friendly or more accommodating. They answered our many questions and gave first rate recommendations. The house is in fantastic shape - just right for a week along the Eastern shore."

  • The Blue House

"We stayed for two nights and enjoyed our stay tremendously. The house location was great, very close to town. We were pleasantly surprised to find amenities that you normally would have brought to a rental house. We found it clean and very comfortable. Thank you for your hospitality, we will return!"

  • Wonderful, relaxing week

"Our family had a wonderful experience. The house was beautiful, very clean, and had everything we could have asked for. It was exactly as pictured. A lovely location -- we even had a bald eagle perch in the tree next to the screened-in porch. We spent many leisurely hours on the porch, reading, eating and watching the birds. We really enjoyed the peace and beauty of the island (beach every afternoon, kayaking, birdwatching, ponies!) and hope to return next year."

  • What a GREAT house for our group!! Wonderful, relaxing stay!

"Just got home from a wonderful final summer hurrah at this lovely bay home in Cape Charles. We had 3 families in our group, and this home's layout was just the right size for adults and kids alike. Everyone could spent time together, but no one felt on top of each other. The kitchen is well appointed with just about anything you could need. We were two blocks away from having toes in the sand, a short walk over to the shops on Mason St., and one block from the park. We all had a lot of fun playing games in the large front and back yards. The owners have done a superb job of stocking the house with toys, movies, linens, towels, etc., so you don't have to pack too much to bring with you. It is a perfect getaway house in a fabulous location, and we will be back!!"
