"Always look forward to my time at Runaway. Its always so difficult to leave! We really enjoyed watching the tide roll in and out, the birds, the quiet and the lush green of the cove. The house kerps getting better and better! The binoculars are awesome, could really see the osprey and eagles up close! Love this place!"

"My family re ted Southern Living for June 27-July 4, and were so so pleased with it. Close proximity to the beach and downtown meant that a lot of days, our car did not move. Beautifully appointed home, lots of extras for the beach, very clean, and such very nice to meet Jenn, who made us feel so welcome. Hope to rent it again."

"Rented Heron House for about a week with my wife, baby daughter and dog. It's about a 10 min. walk to the beach, which is beautiful by the way. Soft sand, clean and not crowded. The waves are pretty mild, so boogie boarding might a challenge. We didn't see many lifeguards and weren't hassled for having our dog on the beach after 9 am (no dogs between 9 am and 9 pm).
"Downtown" Cape Charles is basically one street with a coffee shop, ice cream place, pub, jewelry/home furnishing shops and realtors. That's about a 10-min walk from the house too. A little further away is The Shanty, a nice but informal seafood place with really good food. For a more formal/expensive meal there's the Oyster Farm in the other direction. In all, there isn't a whole lot in the neighborhood but what's there is good.
The house itself was clean, comfortable and well stocked with most of what you might need for a week other than food. Everything worked well (stove, A/C, washer/drier, wifi, clothes washer/drier, etc.) so no complaints there."

"We stayed in the Cleveland St. home during Pony Penning, 2015. It is an excellent location to downtown amenities (shops, restaurants, carnival grounds, etc.). The front porch was extremely relaxing. The home was very clean and roomy. Off-street parking was a definite plus!"
