  • Another Great Vacation in Chincoteague

"My daughter and I had our second year at WHIMS and are looking forward to our third. Once again, the house was immaculate and comfortable and I was greeted by a nice bottle of wine, which is always appreciated! The weather was perfect this year and we spent a lot of time on the screened porch and crabbing out back. We learned a lot more about the history of the town this year and took time to really explore the entire island. We also enjoyed a showing of the movie "Misty of Chincoteague" at the old movie theater. We plan to be back next year, although we will skip pony penning so we can see the horses roaming wild. Would love to take a few charter boat/fishing trips as well. For a small island, there are plenty of things to do. The house is like a home away from home, great place to kick back, slow down and relax!"

  • Bible Study Group Leader

"We were a group of 16 adults and two children and we spent the Memorial Day Weekend 2013 in this beautiful, upscale property. We found this to be excellent for a 3-day getaway, very private, and perfect for our relaxation, fellowship, and spiritual revival. The yard was big enough for our group to play volleyball, and we had wonderful, memorable moments watching the sunset, and having bonfire after dinner. Walking down in the beach brought us good memories of the good old days when we were young and carefree. Everything was a thumb's up, and this place is most highly recommended for those looking for R&R, serenity, peace and quiet."

  • First Rate!

"Unplugged is a wonderful property on the beautiful island of Chincoteague. We spent Pony Penning Week there with our family of six adults and three children, ages ranging from 1 to 71 years old! We enjoyed the week in this wonderful house tremendously. The house has every amenity you need - bicycles, beach toys and chairs, crab pots and traps, and even a kayak - to make the most of your time outside. It also has plenty of games, puzzles, and comfy couches for napping and relaxing on Island time. The kitchen is easy to use and has every appliance we needed for fantastic family meals. (There's a wonderful produce place on Church Street, half a mile away, for fresh fruit and veggies. And His and Hers on Maddox sells live crabs and incredibly fresh seafood that satisfied even our incredible appetite for good seafood.) Even without the famous ponies, there is plenty to do and see. We couldn't fit it all in. The property is within walking distance to Main Street for strolls in and out of all the cute shops. It's within short biking distance (a couple of miles) from Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge Center and Assateague Islands where there are lovely trails to walk, hike, and bike and beautiful, uncrowded beaches (compared to the Jersey shore) to spend your days swimming, sunbathing, and kite flying. Plus the wildlife is amazing. My children, ages 7 and 10, had a wonderful time. They earned their junior park ranger badges and patches at the two National Park/Wildlife Refuge Centers, biked to their hearts' content, fished and crabbed for the first time (Jimmy at Captain Steve's Tackle Shop is super friendly and encouraging), and thoroughly enjoyed being unplugged. The owners, Greg and Susan, couldn't have been more friendly or more accommodating. They answered our many questions and gave first rate recommendations. The house is in fantastic shape - just right for a week along the Eastern shore."
