  • BEautifully appointed, well situated and a lovely host

"Ideal vacation spot on the shore if you wat to be close to the beach with plenty of outdoor options. The host is really wonderful and communicates frequently. The people that run the resort in which the home is located are also very thoughtful and kind. One major standout is how well-equipped the house is. We had everything we wanted (even a pack and pay for the little one!) and found a bunch of stuff that we didn't even know we wanted! Bikes, grill, all kinds of cookware, etc."

  • Perfect Getaway at Runaway

"Amazing location on the cove. Watched bald eagles and osprey every day. Kids had a blast with the crabs off the dock. The house offers everything anyone could want or need. Plenty of space to spread out. Top of the line amenities. Beds, sheets, pillows offered the best and only good night's sleep I've had in years! Deb was available and responsive. Biking to the beach and to the "point" every day was the highlight of the trip and the memory that will last. It was a step out of time. We made little day trips to near-by towns, ate a few great meals out and many great meals "in." Rode horses in Cape Charles; lunched at Aqua which was awesome as was the view of the Bay. We also had breakfast at the Exmore Diner which was a blast from the past. Everyone was so friendly and happy to explain about "swelling toads" on the menu. Dinner at the Machipongo Clam Shack was way better than anticipated and we still talk about Jenni's Ice Cream sandwiches. Mostly, we couldn't wait to get back to the house and the beach. Friendly little community. We hope to come back. You just can't go wrong with this rental. The ONLY downside to the trip is the traffic onto and off the peninsula on the weekends, which of course, the owner cannot control. Thanks, Deb. It was an amazing and memorable vacation!!! Total comfort and peace."

  • Pony Swim Week

"The Sandpiper House is a great place to stay for a family vacation. It is spacious and has everything you need. There are chairs, boogie boards, sand toys and umbrellas for your day at the beach. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is also a charcoal grill. The back deck is big has plenty of seating and is a nice place to sit in the mornings and listen to the crows. I sat on the front porch and watched my girls ride their bikes. McDonald's, Bike Depot, Museum, Assateague Wildlife Refuge, Family Dollar Store, Steve's Market and Pony Tails (candy store) within very easy walking distance. We also walked to the Crab Shack on Maddox for dinner. Master bedroom and bath have been recently renovated. The other two bedrooms worked great for our girls. They shared the twin room. The main bathroom has an updated sink and toilet but could use a sprucing up. Does have stairs to front door and side entrance which we used as our main entrance. Loved the outdoor shower. It looked brand new. Very quiet and friendly neighborhood. The Sandpiper House made a great home away from home. Would definitely stay hear again."

  • A place to unwind

"We needed a place to get away from busyness. When we opened the door, we were taken back by the roominess of the condo. This was our first time trying this kind of vacation, so didn't know what to really expect. We were pleasantly surprised. It was absolutely beautiful. It was big enough for the younger kids to have fun hanging out, yet cozy enough to just stretch out. The kitchen was so workable for six people. I was a little concerned about the pool, until we walked over and found it to be just the right size. Clear water, nice breeze, very clean. We tried our hand at miniature golfing and the older kids took to the street, walking from shop to shop, biking and a whole lot more. we got an added bonus. Because of the weather, the fireworks were delayed one day, so we stood out on the deck and watch a fantastic display of celebration. When we were able to sit out on the deck right off from the BEAUTIFUL master bedroom and living room, the water lapping against the boat slips, an occasional seagull wanting to be heard, helped to create a sense of tranquility. Thanks Annie and Todd for providing your home to weary travelers. Should we decide to take this kind of vacation again, we will definitely be calling. BTW Thanks for the cookies. They were yummy."
