  • Condo itself was great!!

"But there were a few maintenance items that needed to be addressed. The size of the rooms were great, deck was spectacular and kitchen and granite countertops were really nice. However, there were a few items that needed to be fixed, the deck could have used a table and it would have been nice if we would have been told to bring dish soap or paper towels ahead of time. Otherwise, it was convenient to be within walking distance of town, pool was in good working order and we had no problems with parking in the lot. We unfortunately couldn't get into the room until after check-in time which was pretty inconvenient since we had a toddler with us and had driven for so long, and check-out was 10 AM, which is pretty early."

  • BEautifully appointed, well situated and a lovely host

"Ideal vacation spot on the shore if you wat to be close to the beach with plenty of outdoor options. The host is really wonderful and communicates frequently. The people that run the resort in which the home is located are also very thoughtful and kind. One major standout is how well-equipped the house is. We had everything we wanted (even a pack and pay for the little one!) and found a bunch of stuff that we didn't even know we wanted! Bikes, grill, all kinds of cookware, etc."

  • Wonderful Vacation and Home

"We rented this beautiful house for a week this past summer and had one of our best vacations we can remember. Cape Charles is very quaint place. Like stepping back in time. Played some great golf at Bay Creek, spend time on the beach that is one block from the home, and shopped at the many little shops in town. This house was perfect. Very clean and well appointed. The location was perfect. You can walk to the water, shopping and dining. We will be definitely be renting this home again next year."

  • Relaxing weekend on the water

"My husband, daughter, nephew, and I rented this house over the Memorial Day weekend, and we were more than pleased with this property. The house is beautifully maintained, and the listing photos fail to capture the openness and beautiful light. We especially enjoyed the 2 decks from which we could view the water as well as the night sky. We also made use of the sound system with the extensive jazz collection. The bedrooms are all well appointed and bright; the master bath is exceptional with its large jacuzzi tub with view of Assateague Channel. We rode bikes to the beach every day and picked up sandwiches at the Sea Star Cafe as well as at Woody's BBQ. Both places have excellent fare. Having such a well equipped kitchen, we decided to buy fresh shrimp at Gary Howard's Seafood and made our own Creole shrimp. Of course we stopped for ice cream at the Island Creamery! We have been going to Chincoteague for the past 25 years, and this property has been one of the favorites, both for its location and its welcoming atmosphere. The owners are very attentive and were kind enough to arrange for their housekeeper to mail us some clothing we had accidentally left behind. We will definitely return!"

Attractions and Activities at Virginia Eastern Shore Vacation Rentals

Virginia's eastern shore is a beautiful stretch of coastline on Chesapeake Bay that runs for 70 miles down to the Atlantic Ocean. There are several notable places of interest that are worth visiting. The NASA Wallops Flight Facility is a scientific research center for suborbital missions which is located on Chincoteague Island. Most of the operations involve aircraft research and the launching of sound rockets and scientific balloons. The center is open all year long and includes an exhibition hall, observation deck and video shows.

A well-known landmark near Chincoteague vacation rentals and the Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge is the Assateague Lighthouse. This impressive structure stands 142 feet tall and is 27 feet wide at its base. It was built in 1867 and is still an operational lighthouse today. The Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge is a great place for nature walks and bird watching. If you want to experience a place that is both remote and beautiful, visit Wreck Island. It is located on the far southern end of the chain of barrier islands and can only be accessed by boat. The nearest boat launch is seven miles west at the town of Oyster. On the island, you can see the visitors' center that has information about the island and a great wildlife-viewing deck. There are also nature trails that can be enjoyed.
