  • Very enjoyable Time on the Eastern Shore

"Karen has been great to work with. The home is lovely inside and I love how the house is situated to take advantage of the views. Karen has done a great job compiling info for the area. Along with her personal recommendations. Our stay has been very enjoyable and I love all the extras. Bikes canoes kayak Horse Shoes etc. I do not provide this many extras at my rental due to the intensive labor it requires to maintain them. Great time has been had even enjoyed falling in the cove. • Great family week!!

"We didn't decide until March that we wanted to vacation in Chincoteague Island and then only had one week when the six of us where all available. I jumped on the website and found John & Kay's place. We arrived July 5 early in the day and were greeted by Billy who was friendly and welcoming. The house was perfect! Everything we needed! Very clean, comfortable and roomy. We had a great time discovering the islands beach, shops, restaurants and scenery. Just what we needed! John and Kay answered all our questions and offered great tips on places to eat and see along with things to bring with us. Thanks for everything plan to come back."

  • Great for families and birdwatchers!

"We had a lovely stay at this house and highly recommend it. It is a great layout for families and it was nice having a first floor bedroom/bathroom so my in-laws had their own space. My husband and I were upstairs in the master bedroom, and our two children were also upstairs and had their own bathroom too. Plenty of space for everyone and every bedroom has it's own balcony/deck! We used the upstairs loft area as a play area for the kids, so they had a place for their books, toys and activities. Great views- especially if you enjoy sunsets and birdwatching! It was great to eat on the screen-in porch, but having indoor option that sat 6 people was important since the mornings were still chilly. This house isn't walk distance to town, but you could bike in- we just drove. The peaceful/secluded setting was worth the trade-off. Owners were very responsive and helpful. No complaints and would definitely stay their again!"

Attractions and Activities at Virginia Eastern Shore Vacation Rentals

Virginia's eastern shore is a beautiful stretch of coastline on Chesapeake Bay that runs for 70 miles down to the Atlantic Ocean. There are several notable places of interest that are worth visiting. The NASA Wallops Flight Facility is a scientific research center for suborbital missions which is located on Chincoteague Island. Most of the operations involve aircraft research and the launching of sound rockets and scientific balloons. The center is open all year long and includes an exhibition hall, observation deck and video shows.

A well-known landmark near Chincoteague vacation rentals and the Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge is the Assateague Lighthouse. This impressive structure stands 142 feet tall and is 27 feet wide at its base. It was built in 1867 and is still an operational lighthouse today. The Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge is a great place for nature walks and bird watching. If you want to experience a place that is both remote and beautiful, visit Wreck Island. It is located on the far southern end of the chain of barrier islands and can only be accessed by boat. The nearest boat launch is seven miles west at the town of Oyster. On the island, you can see the visitors' center that has information about the island and a great wildlife-viewing deck. There are also nature trails that can be enjoyed. The Kiptopeke State Park is located three miles north of the Bay Bridge Tunnel. It offers birdwatching and wildlife viewing. The park also has camping grounds, a boat launch, recreational facilities and cabins.
