"Once again we enjoyed a great stay at Cheriton Get-Away. All the amenities of home, quiet neighborhood, wonderful screened porch! Just minutes away from Cape Charles and Kiptopeke State Park for fishing, sunbathing, taking a walk or enjoying a beautiful sunset!"

  • Fabulous accommodations!

"My husband and I recently attended a family "destination wedding" in the quaint little community of Silver Beach adjacent to Runaway Cove. We traveled to Virginia from another state and stayed at this wonderful home on the Chesapeake Bay. The house was very comfortable and spacious. The abundance of natural lighting in the house was cheery and view of the cove was as lovely as advertised. We particularly enjoyed relaxing together on the quiet back patio and crabbing off the dock. If you are looking for a private, peaceful retreat and an enticing view, this is a great property to visit."

  • Peaceful retreat

"We stayed at the Spinnaker to celebrate our birthday/anniversary. We were not disappointed. The house is a quaint and peaceful getaway. The views are absolutely gorgeous and it was difficult to pack up and leave. The owner, Pat is so easy to work with and has thought of everything! Every time we thought we forgot something we looked and there it was. They did a great job of anticipating everything you might need. Although our timing did not allow us the opportunity to take advantage of all the island has to offer - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Spinnaker and plan to return. We did take advantage of the crab traps (totally new experience for me). We were able to catch a few crabs and really enjoyed them. If you'd rather not cook, the restaurants on the island are fabulous- best seafood we ever had. Your stay at the Spinnaker will not disappoint!"

  • Sun, Sand, and Sea!

"We stayed here with family and had such a good time. There were a total of six people, four adults and two teens. The condo was cozy, but there was more than enough room for everyone to stretch out and relax. The condo had all of the expected amenities, but the best part was the location. Proximity to the pool was a must for the younger people, and we were a hop and skip away from two award winning golf courses. We threw in a visit to a winery and a kayaking trip for clams. Perfect. Cape Charles and the local community were charming and full of great food and quaint shopping. We're going back just for clam strips and sweet potato biscuits!"

Eastern Shore Travel Tips

Attractions and Activities at Virginia Eastern Shore Vacation Rentals

Virginia's eastern shore is a beautiful stretch of coastline on Chesapeake Bay that runs for 70 miles down to the Atlantic Ocean. There are several notable places of interest that are worth visiting. The NASA Wallops Flight Facility is a scientific research center for suborbital missions which is located on Chincoteague Island. Most of the operations involve aircraft research and the launching of sound rockets and scientific balloons. The center is open all year long and includes an exhibition hall, observation deck and video shows.

A well-known landmark near Chincoteague vacation rentals and the Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge is the Assateague Lighthouse. This impressive structure stands 142 feet tall and is 27 feet wide at its base. It was built in 1867 and is still an operational lighthouse today. The Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge is a great place for nature walks and bird watching. If you want to experience a place that is both remote and beautiful, visit Wreck Island. It is located on the far southern end of the chain of barrier islands and can only be accessed by boat. The nearest boat launch is seven miles west at the town of Oyster. On the island, you can see the visitors' center that has information about the island and a great wildlife-viewing deck. There are also nature trails that can be enjoyed. The Kiptopeke State Park is located three miles north of the Bay Bridge Tunnel. It offers birdwatching and wildlife viewing. The park also has camping grounds, a boat launch, recreational facilities and cabins. There are many small towns along the eastern shore that offer warm hospitality, great food and historic places of interest. One town well worth visiting is Parksley. The Railroad Square is surrounded by quaint shops and Victorian houses. Although the railway line no longer travels through town, you can still visit the restored railway station and the museum which has a collection of railroad memorabilia.
