  • Wonderful Thanksgiving Getaway

"We had wonderful stay for the Thanksgiving holiday! Laura, the owner, was very easy to communicate with and we felt welcome from start to finish. The house is beautiful, with lots of room for our group of 10. We enjoyed the games, the view, fishing from the dock, the large kitchen, a gorgeous dining room where we could all sit together, and walking to town was a giant plus. Onancock was a treasure we hadn't expected. We'd love to come back in the summer when we can take advantage of the large screen porch, grassy yard, and the boat! All around, the home made for an awesome stay!"

  • AMAZING

"We needed a perfect home set up away from home and close to the beach - needed to accommodate our family and dog, as well as extended family meeting us from up North. This was PERFECT in every way. From the cozy living room - well set up kitchen - spacious rooms - and delightful back screened porch. We LOVED the outdoor shower for the kids coming back from the beach!! I will send anyone I know to enjoy this. ALSO - loved that we could walk to fishing areas, coffee shop, tourist shopping, and food. Bills restaurant rocked our world for a Birthday dinner. Make a reservation and ENJOY!!! :)"

  • A Room with a View

"What a beautiful location and place we had for our visit. We brought our family here and enjoyed all that we could. In the morning, we walked on the beach, taking photos of the incredible scenery, horses and wildlife. We went kayaking in the bay, biking through the wildlife refuge, went swimming in the ocean, and visited the Island Creamery or Mr. Whippy's for ice cream every night. We hung out in the hammocks after eating smoked BBQ at Woody's and played some of the outdoor games they had set up for their patrons. We enjoyed oysters and delicious seafood at Bill's. We took walks in the early evening, visiting the little shops located near Sunset Bay Villas. We went crabbing off the docks at the Villas and had a crabfest. At night, we would break out the mandolin, banjo and guitar and sing a little bluegrass or jazz on the deck, watching the sun set in the bay. Chincoteague was a wonderful place to bring a family, but this condo was a perfect setting for us to enjoy our stay. Every day, this condo provided us a room with a spectacular view."

  • Amazingly Relaxing!

"We had a great time, couldn't have been better! Caught a ton of crabs both in the traps and on the lines, and one lonely fish, which was not from the lack of trying. The house was perfect, great views, super quiet and had everything we needed for a relaxing week. We drove over the Chincoteague a couple times, which only takes about 45 minutes. The dog had a great time swimming and running around it was the perfect setting. When you have a 14 year old that says he doesn't want to go back to civilization you know its been relaxing and fun..... I would definitely stay here again!"

Eastern Shore Travel Tips

Attractions and Activities at Virginia Eastern Shore Vacation Rentals

Virginia's eastern shore is a beautiful stretch of coastline on Chesapeake Bay that runs for 70 miles down to the Atlantic Ocean. There are several notable places of interest that are worth visiting. The NASA Wallops Flight Facility is a scientific research center for suborbital missions which is located on Chincoteague Island. Most of the operations involve aircraft research and the launching of sound rockets and scientific balloons. The center is open all year long and includes an exhibition hall, observation deck and video shows.

A well-known landmark near Chincoteague vacation rentals and the Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge is the Assateague Lighthouse. This impressive structure stands 142 feet tall and is 27 feet wide at its base. It was built in 1867 and is still an operational lighthouse today. The Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge is a great place for nature walks and bird watching. If you want to experience a place that is both remote and beautiful, visit Wreck Island. It is located on the far southern end of the chain of barrier islands and can only be accessed by boat. The nearest boat launch is seven miles west at the town of Oyster. On the island, you can see the visitors' center that has information about the island and a great wildlife-viewing deck. There are also nature trails that can be enjoyed. The Kiptopeke State Park is located three miles north of the Bay Bridge Tunnel. It offers birdwatching and wildlife viewing. The park also has camping grounds, a boat launch, recreational facilities and cabins. There are many small towns along the eastern shore that offer warm hospitality, great food and historic places of interest. One town well worth visiting is Parksley. The Railroad Square is surrounded by quaint shops and Victorian houses. Although the railway line no longer travels through town, you can still visit the restored railway station and the museum which has a collection of railroad memorabilia.
