  • Family Reunion

"We are a family of 8 that stayed at the condo for a family reunion. Our group ranged in age from 15 to 62. The condo was comfortable for everyone and was exactly as advertised. There were many supplies included that helped to make the stay even more enjoyable. We enjoyed watching the ospreys who had a nest on a nearby condo's chimney. The location of this condo is ideal--it is near everything in Williamsburg. Thanks, Fred for sharing your condo with us!"

  • James River House

"Loved our stay at the James River House! Great natural setting above a private beach! We were in the area to see Williamsburg, but the cottage was the highlight of our trip. My two teen sons loved the kayaks and spent most of their time fishing for blue catfish and hunting for shark teeth (and listening to me when I would get excited over a bald eagle sighting!). The path down could be difficult for some (my knees definitely felt it!), but it was a beautiful walk with a nice bench for morning coffee. Nice firepitmade our evenings! The house itself is well cozy and inviting - loved all the games and books, we took advantage of a lot of them!! Having some newer appliances and a very clean, well maintained bathroom was a welcome sight, sometimes you don't know with a rental what you will get, but the James River House was great! We also really appreciate that is is dog friendly. Our golden retriever loved the beach and hanging out with us by the fire. Thank you for a great vacation!"

  • Enjoyed our stay

"Dear Mary And Dave, Just a brief comment or two about our stay. Wow ! This seems to be a very busy and scccessful place. Obviously a good investment for you. First of all, the resort people were very accomodating and courteous. Just a few things had to be addressed such as a shower repair and the play-pal wasn't there when we arrived. It was taken care of in lightning fashion. We did very little in , around or outside the resort since my daughter, husband and new grandchild live in the area. It was a time to sit, relax and talk. We appreciated your fully stocked kitchen. You might be shocked to know that I made lasagne, a roast loin of pork, and slow-cooked prime rib for Father's day with Yorkshire pudding and cherries jubilee. This certainly doesn't happen in this place, but to each his own. In addition to good company, good food and wine, I saved myself hundreds of dollars. My Mom's cooking classes paid off for all of us ! Just want to also add that your condo was immaculate, and we did our best to keep it that way. Glad we had the chance ti enjoy your place. Regards, Bob & Pat P.S. We are glad to be back in Beaufort tonight. 95 was empty. c'ant figure it out !"

  • Great weekend getaway

"My girlfriend and I travel a lot and are always looking for new places to escape from it all and we found this little piece of heaven. The owners were very friendly and easy to work with and the staff at the resort was very friendly upon our arrival. I recommend this condo for anyone who wants to get away from their busy everyday life and wants to take in some sightseeing and relaxation."

Williamsburg Travel Tips

Renting the Ideal Williamsburg Vacation Rentals

Colonial Williamsburg is a charmingly reconstructed town, looking just as it did when it was the capital of Virginia in the 1770s. However, it is not just the historic buildings which have been recreated but also the whole lifestyle, with actors providing the roles of shopkeepers, villagers and even George Washington himself. The town has a host of shops, taverns, theaters and restaurants, all in keeping with the historic atmosphere.

Williamsburg is located on the Colonial Parkway which links it with Jamestown and Yorktown, on a peninsula between the James and York Rivers which flow into Chesapeake Bay. The area is ideal for walking, cycling along the flat cycleways, shopping and taking guided tours of each charming historic district.

Renting a condo in Williamsburg puts you right in the heart of this historic area. With spacious well-equipped facilties, it is often the most economical way to stay in the area, especially if you are sharing the accommodation with extended family or friends. Use a vacation rental as a base for exploring this lovely area, returning home after dark to a comfortable home-away-from-home with all the necessary amenities.

Williamsburg Vacation Houses Provide a Host of Things to Do

Colonial Williamsburg offers something for every age and brings historic events vividly to life before your eyes. Head for the Visitor Center and pick up a map and list of activities and events which change daily. Strolling along the streets of the Historic District is free but tickets are required to enter some of the key historic buildings and museums. Buy handmade candles or old maps in the quaint shops with “Colonial Currency” or discuss politics with local characters. Take a carriage ride around the town or tour the beautiful Governor’s Palace, Capitol building and the Old Courthouse. See cabinet-makers, silversmiths, blacksmiths and wig-makers all demonstrating their trades.

Beyond the historic sites, the area is ideal for cycling and walking along the flat rural lanes. There is also some excellent shopping and dining in the area.

Places to Visit Around Williamsburg

The waterfront town of Smithfield is nearby with its brick-built 17th-century St. Luke’s Church, the oldest existing church of English foundation in the U.S. Further afield, classy Richmond offers an interesting day out, just an hour down the road. The area also has several plantation homes on the banks of the James River which are open to the public and can be toured.

Other historic sights just a short drive from Williamsburg are Bacon’s Castle, a 17th-century manor house, and Smith’s Fort, dating back to 1609. The Jamestown Settlement is an excellent replica of the waterfront community which originally established itself there.

Once you have had enough of the history of the area, a trip to Busch Gardens or Water Country USA theme park may be in order, with a host of 21st-century rides and family attractions. The nearby Virginia Beach offers plenty of activities for vacationers including miles of sandy beaches and excellent shopping; in that case you might want to consider Virginia Beach rentals for the future trips to the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean.
