Recent Alexandria reviews

  • The Cottage

"Dear Jack: I am happy to write a review of your Cottage, based on our recent stay with you. The location of the property, to our surprise, is in an upper middle-class neighborhood—a safe and quiet area of Alexandria, Virginia. Because the Cottage is a short walk to the Metro Rail System and the local restaurants in Old Town, we saved a bundle on transportation and parking. Also, your rates are quite reasonable for the expensive Washington, DC housing market. We found the facility very clean and immediately appreciated the manner in which you utilized the space. The king-size sofa bed allowed us to sit or lounge while watching television or the many movies you provided, and we especially looked forward to the large bed with memory foam after a long day of site seeing . The décor and the actual layout remind us of a cottage we rented while visiting the west end of London. However, the prices in England are significantly higher. The Wi-Fi allowed us to use all of our electronics simultaneously while in the Cottage or outside. Thank you for making the gas grill available for our use. It was fun cooking outside with guests and marveling at the beautiful backyard garden and sculptures. Although we were responsible for our own food, we appreciated the juice, yogurt, muffins, flowers, and other goodies you presented us upon our arrival to welcome us. We travel extensively, and we are always thankful for a free washer and dryer, as well as a kitchen with everything we need to make our stay memorable and comfortable. Your dog, Nyla, is adorable. We only regret we could not fit her in our luggage. You are to be commended for a job well done in training her and allowing her to express her love to perfect strangers. In closing, we thank you for your sincere hospitality and for genuinely caring about and catering to our needs. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Cottage to others, and we plan to make the Cottage our “home away from home” on our next visit to the Washington, District of Columbia Metropolitan Area. Yours truly, Gil"

"Staying in this lovely home in Old Town is such a pleasure! The owners are wonderful people and the welcoming touches which they provide make one's stay even more special. The walks around Old Town, along the Potomac and a nearby park are very enjoyable. I do recommend this home!"

  • Loved it!

"Our family of 5, including kids ages 15, 13, and 10, stayed here for 4 nights on our spring break trip to DC. The cottage was charming and filled with quality furnishings and plenty of extra touches. Kitchen came with some basic spices, oil, etc. which is always nice. Jim and Lisa offered a campfire, Mt. Vernon passes ( saved us $100!), and a couple of bikes. Didn't have enough time to enjoy it all! The yard and neighborhood were beautiful and nice to run through, plus the bike trail was only a couple blocks away...great place to run along the Potomac! Our kids loved the cottage too and wished for more down time to just hang out there. Highly recommend!"

  • we stayed a week at condo would recommend if touring dc

"We stayed a week at condo- and we had a car. Parking was plentiful. View at night was spectacular! We travelled to Franconia-Springfield metro - plenty of parking and you were going against I395 traffic which is a major plus! You can catch the blue line there, yellow line during rush hrs and transfer to any other line. Condo was clean but dated."
