  • THE PLACE TO STAY!

"My wife, daughter and I stayed at the Cottage. We wanted a nice getaway for the weekend to see the sights of DC and experience Old Town Alexandria. We had never tried staying at places other than a hotel. LUCKY US to have found 'The Cottage'. The Cottage offers more than a hotel, along with comfort and convenience. We were sold on the kitchen...a full kitchen and a beautiful walk-out patio. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE COTTAGE! We will be back. Thanks, Jack"

  • Lovely vacation getaway

"My husband & I truly enjoyed our stay. The studio apartment is about the size of a hotel room, and quite comfortable. The kitchen area was well-equipped with a fridge, microwave, toaster-oven, and a supply of dishes and cutlery. Linda even provided delicious muffins for our first breakfast - so thoughtful! Linda also compiled several binders full of local sightseeing information, including maps, coupons, and two re-fillable Metro cards. She also allowed us to use her washer/dryer mid-week, so we didn't have to pack so much. It's personal touches such as these that make us appreciate staying in a vacation rental over an impersonal chain hotel. The home is located in a scenic historic neighborhood, and we enjoyed looking at the variety of beautiful homes during our walk to the Metro. We'd walk down to the train station, and take the Metro up to DC for the day. In the evening we'd return to Alexandria where we'd hop on the free trolley and ride down King street until we saw a restaurant to try. The proximity to public transportation was a great plus - we decided to take the Amtrak train up from Florida because the Amtrak stop is the same as the Metro, and then flew home out of Reagan National which was just a couple Metro stops away. The only cautionary note I'll mention for future guests is the walk from the Metro to the apartment. It is uphill for most of the walk, which may be a bit of a challenge for some older folks. However, public transportation is readily available, and a taxi from the Metro station to the apartment only costs around $7 (including tip) if your feet hurt after a day of sightseeing! Thank you again, Linda & Willie, for sharing your hospitality and your studio apartment."

  • Get Away

"Great place and location. Easy to get to DC, Alexandria, Arlington, Dulles, Reagan, Etc. Could not have asked for a better unit, except the challenge of living on 3 floors. Beautiful Townhouse, well equipped. You name it, it was there. A great place for a 4 day getaway or a month. This place will serve all your needs."

  • Wonderful Home!

"We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at this beautiful condo, it has everything needed for a short or long term stay! My husband and I were with another couple and everything was perfect – the condo is in a fabulous location to visit all the wonderful sights, shopping and restaurants that DC has to offer. There is plenty of natural light, it is in a quiet location (no noise when sleeping) and is very well appointed with top notch linens and towels, beds were extremely comfortable and the bathroom is amazing with heated floors and awesome shower options. The internet works perfectly too. The host was extremely accommodating in all aspects of our visit - from booking, to greeting us, answering our many questions and only being a text away! I would highly recommend this wonderful condo, we will be back."
