Very Happy with Location & Property
"Was in town for the cherry blossom festival and initially decided to try this VRBO due to the hotel prices being elevated with the festival. It ended up being a good decision for multiple reasons. I always love having a kitchen when I'm traveling solo so I don't have to go out to eat for every meal. Though small, it had everything I needed for preparing some meals--even a shopping bag to use at the nearby Trader Joe's. The apartment was clean with a comfortable bed. I liked the "pure organic" towels so much that I tried to find where I could buy them for home. There is a little outside patio with a grill and nice big washer/dryer there in the basement if you need to do laundry. Like others have said, though it is a basement apt there were plenty of windows and light. I particularly loved the neighborhood. Many people out and about, visiting, walking dogs, eating on patios in the area. Lots of restaurants to choose from--the tacos at the taqueria two doors down are quite tasty and the carmelitas at the Bakehouse are yummy. The U St Metro station is very close and you can get all around the city easily on that. The Dupont Circle area (which also has a Metro station) is a slightly longer walk away but still less than a mile through nice neighborhoods and by a cute dog park on S Street. I appreciated the DC travel books that were on the bookshelf and there is a notebook there that tells how to work the remote to the TV. Eva was very helpful in responding to emails with any questions I had! I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone I knew!
Tips: Take an umbrella if any rain expected during your stay because the closest one to buy is several blocks away. Also, probably common sense but I struggled with it for a minute--the lockbox for the keys has a black button which releases the keys when you put the right code in, it doesn't open from the part that is hooked onto the railing which is what I kept trying to make it do:)"

"My family stays in VRBO or other vacation rentals whenever we travel to larger cities (mostly New York) and this is, by far, the nicest VRBO rental we have encountered. It is exactly as pictured, with wonderful art and beautifully furnished. Some surprises were how well stocked and provisioned it is, and how exceptionally quiet! The separation between the bedrooms is also very nice so guests with different schedules don't disturb each other. The outdoor roof terraces are gorgeous, and there is so much natural light! Maria even thoughtfully provided a notebook with information about all the artworks, and the library is outstanding. I was tempted to skip the sightseeing and stay home to read! Unless I were for some reason travelling alone, I can't imagine staying anywhere else when visiting Washington DC."

"A lovely apartment, large, extremely clean, and unbelievably close to numerous fine restaurants; also metro stop is close. Convenience par excellence. And the Milmans are perfect hosts: attentive, conscientious, discrete and honest. We left a muffler behind; they found it and mailed it to us, no muss no fuss. Good people all the way around, and we would stay with them again in a heartbeat."

"Loved the apartment. Location was convenient, metro right around the corner, great restaurants and attentive owners during the booking process as well as during our stay. Kate was very helpful in booking our White House tour as well as taxi from the airport and all around great service from what we understand is a family operation.
The unit is newly renovated in an older building and looks amazing. There is a washer and dryer, which we used as it rained during our stay. Nice open space kitchen as well as large sleeper in the living, which our kids loved (I think, because the TV is in the living room and kept on watching TV late in to the night).
Overall, very happy with this unit and would highly recommend it to family with kids like ours.
There are many amazing restaurants right around the corner but our favorite was a little local pizza place, Red Rocks. Thin crust pizza, great outdoor seating and the neighborhood is all around you. The area is so alive it made us feel like"
