  • The most beautiful venue for an intimate and romantic wedding!

"We rented Mt. Welby for our October 2013 wedding and all in all, it was a fabulous wedding despite the rainy weather. The grounds are so beautifully and lovingly maintained that we decided to hold the ceremony outside even though it had been raining all week. Luckily, the rain lightened up just before the ceremony and the gardens and woods in the background looked breathtaking, even mystical with the fog hanging low on the horizon. We moved the reception inside and the house was so cozy and comfortable enough for 50 people to hang out without feeling crowded. All our guests were charmed by the ambiance of Mount Welby and we are totally in love with the place and plan to go back often. Michel (the owner) was really easy to deal with and very accommodating and he made sure the house was ready for us, offering plenty of referrals for vendors and tips for making the most out of our stay. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a house with lots of character, yet providing modern comforts."

  • Thank you!

"Peyton and Kenny made our vacation planning so very easy by making sure we had reservations to the amazing Forlano's across the street and had toilet paper and coffee in our room for the morning. mornings. Since we only had one roll, they graciously gave us more when we went and requested it from their shop. They were also kind to tell us the water heater was small and only allowed for 5 minute showers. They weren't kidding, mine got cold and my husband had to skip his until it heated up before the wedding we were attending. Too bad we didn't request more towels when we went for the tp, because I had to use the same small towel for 4 days. The quaint rustic cottage with concrete floors had the most comfortable bed and linens. Plains is a quaint friendly town where you feel like you are going, "home". I would have rated a 5 if we had plenty of toilet paper, paper towels, dish clothes and dish towels as well as 2-3 sets of bath towels for both of us. Having blinds or shades on the windows would have also helped us get a restful sleep."

  • Loved it!

"Our family of 5, including kids ages 15, 13, and 10, stayed here for 4 nights on our spring break trip to DC. The cottage was charming and filled with quality furnishings and plenty of extra touches. Kitchen came with some basic spices, oil, etc. which is always nice. Jim and Lisa offered a campfire, Mt. Vernon passes ( saved us $100!), and a couple of bikes. Didn't have enough time to enjoy it all! The yard and neighborhood were beautiful and nice to run through, plus the bike trail was only a couple blocks away...great place to run along the Potomac! Our kids loved the cottage too and wished for more down time to just hang out there. Highly recommend!"

  • Great Spot

"Great Spot to get away from it. Lovely quiet community with most amenities a short drive away. Superb for those wanting to brush up on civil war history, the area drips with it! Most things you need are in the house, but would say that it would have been nice to have had some outdoor furniture for the deck as it was summer and perhaps a convenient gas BBQ, but this doesn't detract from the overall place. Great spot. Many thanks!"
