"My friend and I stayed here for a 4-day getaway and it was PERFECT! The house is exactly as pictured and really not difficult to find (just watch for the signs). We were greeted by the owners, Rick and Karen, who were so welcoming and made wonderful recommendations on restaurants and things to do and see. We went into Middleburg every day to shop and eat and explore, but because the house is so well-appointed, we still cooked several meals "at home." The house was clean, bright, and spacious, and the entire area felt very safe. I can't recommend The Hunt Box enough - stay here and you will not be disappointed!"

"We gathered family from Texas and from The Netherlands to celebrate my son's wedding in Fairfax VA. The home was perfect. There were 12 of us staying in the home and we had plenty of room to be together and plenty of room to spread out and find our own quiet spots as needed. My 86 year old mother took the downstairs room which had a futon in a room next to a full bath as her domain. It was perfect as she did not need to climb the stairs. The back door had only one step which also made it easy for her to come and go. The home was beautiful, immaculate and provided just what we needed to have a family gathering to celebrate. The neighborhood is lovely with nice, quiet and friendly neighbors (one who was playing on the street with her family took a family pic for us!) Many thanks to the owners. Their correspondence throughout the reservation process, as well as their quick responses to emails when we were on site were very much appreciated. This was my first attempt at using HomeAway. It was such a pleasant experience, I can't wait to use the service again. Highly recommend this beautiful home!"

"We selected the Cottage because we wanted to be near Old Town, Alexandria. The price was exceptional compared to local hotels. We also wanted the ability to make some of our own meals rather than eat out all the time.
In terms of being a great value for the price, the Cottage is hard to beat. The description of the Cottage is very accurate and you should set your expectations accordingly. The Cottage is not luxurious, but it is clean, quiet, and has everything you need to be comfortable. It is fine for two people. The upstairs bedroom has enough space when the daybed is closed. The daybed is trundle style; once you pull it out to full king-size, it does take up most of the room, so just be prepared for that. Still, the bed itself is very comfortable. The adjoining bathroom is small but adequate, with a great shower and a window overlooking a nice yard. A winding staircase leads down to a fully equipped kitchen and a small table for two. The downstairs also offers access to the backyard. The property is well maintained. You have your own separate entrance and a parking space right outside the door, which is a real plus.
Located in a lovely, quiet residential area, the Cottage is an enjoyable 10-minute walk through a nice neighborhood to reach King Street. We did it several times in the evenings and felt perfectly safe. You will be at the end of King Street, right near the Metro stop, which is the best way to get around DC. There is also a Metro transportation office next door to the Embassy Suites hotel across the street from the station. Here you can get day passes for the Metro, a good idea if you plan to make multiple stops around town.
One of the best services offered by Alexandria is the free trolley that runs along King Street all the way to the waterfront. Hop on and off anytime until about 10 PM. It will save you a lot of walking. Needless to say, the shops and restaurants along King Street and close by are wonderful, and it is so much nicer to stay in this quaint village-like area rather than in downtown DC or other nearby cities. Here's a tip: If you're a Crate and Barrel fan, there is a Crate and Barrel outlet store not far from the King Street Metro.
Jack is a gracious host. He leaves goodies for you in the refrigerator and provides lots of information about local sights, restaurants, etc. There are plenty of TV channels, as well as DVDs and books. The Cottage is a great cost-effective alternative to an expensive hotel room."

"We spent there a very cold winter month. The apartment is so bright that the days we had to stay inside due to real bad weather, it was still very enjoyable. Originally from Newbury Park, California, we are used to warm weather, so having a Whole Food Market across the street was one of the assets we really appreciated. All other ammenities mentioned in the add were there, everything worked, and it was a great place to spend our time in the Washington area."
