  • Historic Parkfairfax Beauty

"We had a wonderful month in the DC area, and this comfortable, clean, well-appointed colonial townhouse was an excellent home base. The neighborhood is very safe and perfect for daily walks. Buses run right in front of the townhouse taking you to nearby old town Alexandria or metro stops. Sophisticated Shirlington, with its excellent restaurants, a grocery store and shops, is a 15 minute walk, by way of a pedestrian bridge over I-395. Without traffic, a ten minute drive on I-395 takes you to Washington Reagan Airport or downtown DC. Dan, the owner, responded to e-mails promptly and made the rental process easy. He lives a few blocks from the townhouse and was so nice about answering any questions we had during the month."

  • Enchanting environmental escape

"My family including our puppy cannot say enough wonderful things about staying at Cardinal Springs. The location is superb for exploring the Shenandoah National Park, wineries and breweries, great restaurant or for just relaxing. We were able to do all this on a wintry long weekend. Reading books by the fire while enjoying the view after a leisurely walk was one day's activities. Another day great brunch in nearby Washington and then a quick hike in the Shenandoah. Everything you need is provided for you luxuriously in these accommodations. The view, again, is spectacular and communing with all forms of nature really brings one back to earth after the hectic life so many of us live. We will be definitely going back!"

  • Lovely Virginia Country Home

"This is a perfect place to stay if you are looking for a backwoods country "get away from the city" experience. The house is in great condition and I have yet to come across a more fully stocked kitchen. Our hosts were fabulous and did not complain when we got locked out and had to knock on their door at 11 pm at night. There is a new hot tub, which was perfect after a long hike on a trail right outside the door. The nearest grocery store is 30 miles out, but we didn't mind the drive into town to pick up supplies. We found the Griffin Tavern in Little Washington to be fabulous! I am not a big fan of Virginia wine, but there is plenty of great beer to be found and the people in the area are so nice. It was about an 80 minute drive to DC. Highly recommend this spot!"
