  • Excellent Getaway

"This was the second annual weekend getaway for the group of mid-20 year old college buddies scattered throughout the state. This trip included a bachelor party twist. We spent most of our time out on the shooting range and enjoyed all the outdoor space the farm had to offer. The owners are welcoming and willing to allow us to have our space, all while being available to help with any request. Truly a remote location away from any sort of busyness that comes with every day life. This is a great spot for all ages and we will certainly be back in the future. Thanks again!"

  • Marriage Proposal

"We spent four days at The Play Garden for the occasion of the surprise proposal and engagement party for our daughter. It was absolutely beautiful!!! Everything turned out perfectly - even the rain stopped right before. The house is AMAZING. We thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the pictures and seeing the family history throughout the rooms. The house is remarkably well stocked with everything you would need and the view is absolutely breathtaking. We will have such great memories of our daughters engagement - such the perfect setting for such a special occasion. We would love to come back to visit when the pool is open and the gardens are in bloom. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful home!!"

  • A great value for the price and for the DC area.

"We selected the Cottage because we wanted to be near Old Town, Alexandria. The price was exceptional compared to local hotels. We also wanted the ability to make some of our own meals rather than eat out all the time. In terms of being a great value for the price, the Cottage is hard to beat. The description of the Cottage is very accurate and you should set your expectations accordingly. The Cottage is not luxurious, but it is clean, quiet, and has everything you need to be comfortable. It is fine for two people. The upstairs bedroom has enough space when the daybed is closed. The daybed is trundle style; once you pull it out to full king-size, it does take up most of the room, so just be prepared for that. Still, the bed itself is very comfortable. The adjoining bathroom is small but adequate, with a great shower and a window overlooking a nice yard. A winding staircase leads down to a fully equipped kitchen and a small table for two. The downstairs also offers access to the backyard. The property is well maintained. You have your own separate entrance and a parking space right outside the door, which is a real plus. Located in a lovely, quiet residential area, the Cottage is an enjoyable 10-minute walk through a nice neighborhood to reach King Street. We did it several times in the evenings and felt perfectly safe. You will be at the end of King Street, right near the Metro stop, which is the best way to get around DC. There is also a Metro transportation office next door to the Embassy Suites hotel across the street from the station. Here you can get day passes for the Metro, a good idea if you plan to make multiple stops around town. One of the best services offered by Alexandria is the free trolley that runs along King Street all the way to the waterfront. Hop on and off anytime until about 10 PM. It will save you a lot of walking. Needless to say, the shops and restaurants along King Street and close by are wonderful, and it is so much nicer to stay in this quaint village-like area rather than in downtown DC or other nearby cities. Here's a tip: If you're a Crate and Barrel fan, there is a Crate and Barrel outlet store not far from the King Street Metro. Jack is a gracious host. He leaves goodies for you in the refrigerator and provides lots of information about local sights, restaurants, etc. There are plenty of TV channels, as well as DVDs and books. The Cottage is a great cost-effective alternative to an expensive hotel room."

  • A Little gem in Old Town

"Beautiful house just a five minute walk away from King Street with its shops and restaurants, bars and boutiques. A few steps away from a playground and dog park. The house has everything you need to enjoy your stay, and should you need anything else, the owners are always available to help you out. We were met with welcoming touches that were a pleasant surprise. We're a family with three very young kids and a golden retriever and we were very happy with our choice. Thank y"
