  • Heaven on Earth!

"My family of 4 spent a weekend here - and this place knows how to bring the good life! The house is very spacious, the breakfast was plentiful, and we enjoyed 3 meals sitting right outside, just enjoying the scenery. My kids loved exploring the farm, seeing the sheep and llamas, and paddling a canoe around the pond. There are brochures with nearby attractions - which are plentiful. We spent one day at nearby Great Country Farm and another in Harper's Ferry. There are at least a dozen nearby wineries to tour in the area. It was a great weekend of relaxation away from DC - our normal home. If you're considering this place for a wedding - it's gorgeous!"

  • Alexandria townhouse

"What a great, relaxing place to come back to after a busy day of sightseeing! This condo is equipped with everything that you will need for your "home away from home". It was very comfortable and clean. We had no need for a car as the buses stop right across the street to take you to the metro station to transfer for wherever you want to go. Besides all of the Washington sights, be sure to visit Old Town Alexandria, which has many historical sights also. Dan was very easy to work with. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and family!"

  • Loved it!

"Our family of 5, including kids ages 15, 13, and 10, stayed here for 4 nights on our spring break trip to DC. The cottage was charming and filled with quality furnishings and plenty of extra touches. Kitchen came with some basic spices, oil, etc. which is always nice. Jim and Lisa offered a campfire, Mt. Vernon passes ( saved us $100!), and a couple of bikes. Didn't have enough time to enjoy it all! The yard and neighborhood were beautiful and nice to run through, plus the bike trail was only a couple blocks away...great place to run along the Potomac! Our kids loved the cottage too and wished for more down time to just hang out there. Highly recommend!"

  • Lovely vacation getaway

"My husband & I truly enjoyed our stay. The studio apartment is about the size of a hotel room, and quite comfortable. The kitchen area was well-equipped with a fridge, microwave, toaster-oven, and a supply of dishes and cutlery. Linda even provided delicious muffins for our first breakfast - so thoughtful! Linda also compiled several binders full of local sightseeing information, including maps, coupons, and two re-fillable Metro cards. She also allowed us to use her washer/dryer mid-week, so we didn't have to pack so much. It's personal touches such as these that make us appreciate staying in a vacation rental over an impersonal chain hotel. The home is located in a scenic historic neighborhood, and we enjoyed looking at the variety of beautiful homes during our walk to the Metro. We'd walk down to the train station, and take the Metro up to DC for the day. In the evening we'd return to Alexandria where we'd hop on the free trolley and ride down King street until we saw a restaurant to try. The proximity to public transportation was a great plus - we decided to take the Amtrak train up from Florida because the Amtrak stop is the same as the Metro, and then flew home out of Reagan National which was just a couple Metro stops away. The only cautionary note I'll mention for future guests is the walk from the Metro to the apartment. It is uphill for most of the walk, which may be a bit of a challenge for some older folks. However, public transportation is readily available, and a taxi from the Metro station to the apartment only costs around $7 (including tip) if your feet hurt after a day of sightseeing! Thank you again, Linda & Willie, for sharing your hospitality and your studio apartment."
