  • Great Spot

"Great Spot to get away from it. Lovely quiet community with most amenities a short drive away. Superb for those wanting to brush up on civil war history, the area drips with it! Most things you need are in the house, but would say that it would have been nice to have had some outdoor furniture for the deck as it was summer and perhaps a convenient gas BBQ, but this doesn't detract from the overall place. Great spot. Many thanks!"

  • Wonderful house for the family

"I needed a place not only for my family but for my extended family. A Hotel was out of the question since we were staying just over one week. We were gathering for a family wedding and I couldn't have been happier with the location and comfort of the house. Walking distance to the Metro and just a short drive to DC. The convenience of making our own meals and being able to feel comfortable in a home is awesome. This is something I will look to do in the future. The owners were very gracious a a pleasure to work with. Thanks for opening your home to my family."

  • Lovely vacation getaway

"My husband & I truly enjoyed our stay. The studio apartment is about the size of a hotel room, and quite comfortable. The kitchen area was well-equipped with a fridge, microwave, toaster-oven, and a supply of dishes and cutlery. Linda even provided delicious muffins for our first breakfast - so thoughtful! Linda also compiled several binders full of local sightseeing information, including maps, coupons, and two re-fillable Metro cards. She also allowed us to use her washer/dryer mid-week, so we didn't have to pack so much. It's personal touches such as these that make us appreciate staying in a vacation rental over an impersonal chain hotel. The home is located in a scenic historic neighborhood, and we enjoyed looking at the variety of beautiful homes during our walk to the Metro. We'd walk down to the train station, and take the Metro up to DC for the day. In the evening we'd return to Alexandria where we'd hop on the free trolley and ride down King street until we saw a restaurant to try. The proximity to public transportation was a great plus - we decided to take the Amtrak train up from Florida because the Amtrak stop is the same as the Metro, and then flew home out of Reagan National which was just a couple Metro stops away. The only cautionary note I'll mention for future guests is the walk from the Metro to the apartment. It is uphill for most of the walk, which may be a bit of a challenge for some older folks. However, public transportation is readily available, and a taxi from the Metro station to the apartment only costs around $7 (including tip) if your feet hurt after a day of sightseeing! Thank you again, Linda & Willie, for sharing your hospitality and your studio apartment."

  • LOVE THE COTTAGE. VERY CHARMING!

"My wife and fiance loved the warmth and coziness of the Cottage. The neighborhood is definitely upper-class and well-maintained. This is a wonderful 'ROMANTIC' place for two. The convenience of stores; metro and having mostly everything very close is a BIG PLUS! The owner takes great 'care' in maintaining the Cottage (inside and out). CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN! The downstairs kitchen and outside beautiful patio, is a perfect way to begin your day with coffee and a meal before heading out to DC for sightseeing. We HIGHLY recommend the Cottage and we will return!"
