  • Whole family loved this house!

"We rented this chalet for a week at the tail end of ski season (family of 5). We lucked out, as there was a ton of snow on St. Patrick's day this year! The house is about a mile from the ski resort. I walked back and forth a couple times. The roads up to the house are pretty steep. If there is snow, I would take 4-wheel drive if possible. My husband thought his BMW all-wheel-drive could handle it, but no. We got him out eventually, though ;). The owners have arranged for snow removal, so it was a nice surprise when a man with a plow and shovels came by in the afternoon to clear the driveway and walkways. From the pictures online, it's hard to tell if the layout would be convenient or not. In person, it is awesome. The fireplace area is sooo nice, and we had no trouble whatsoever getting a fire going (make sure you use DRY wood, even if you have to pick some up from the 7-11). There is a notebook in the house with directions on how to work absolutely everything, so no worries. I loved that there was a mudroom. I made my kids leave their boots in there so as not to track snow all over the house. It also kept the house warmer because you could close the door to the mudroom and not have a breeze every time someone came inside. The kitchen was on the small side, but well stocked and labeled so you didn't have to open door after door to find something. We had no trouble cooking family dinners. The dining table is a nice size. The bedrooms are spacious. The master bedroom was very comfortable. The showers have decent water pressure. Everything works as it should. The basement is a nice recreation room. The kids loved the ping-pong and darts, and of course the TV. It was great to have a selection of dvd's to choose from. The basement is finished, warm and inviting, and has its own bathroom, so it is a nice place to hang out. It was especially nice that the owners allowed us to bring our little dog. He was overjoyed to finally be able to come with us on a vacation. He was so excited to have a change of scene and be able to explore someplace new. It make it more fun for all of us to have him there. Angie the owner was very easy to work with, no trouble at all with payment and refund of deposit. She was even able to accommodate our request for a late checkout - much appreciated! By the end of the trip, my 19 yr old daughter asked if we could buy the house! Had to say no, since it's not for sale, and we are tuition-poor :(."

  • Great getaway spot with fabulous mountain view

"Niblick House is a great vacation spot within 2 hours of DC. Located in the Bryce Resort, where there are lots of activities for young and old, the house has two great living areas where the group can gather. The owners have spent time making the vacation home inviting and have outfitted the house with lots of games and anything you might need in the kitchen. The main living area has comfy furniture and a spectacular mountain and golf course view. The beds are comfortable and the spiral staircase is fun. We had a great family get together there. I'm sure it is nice for the fall leaves and ski season also! The owner was lovely to deal with. We hope we can make it back some tine! We had a great family style dinner at Shrinemont at Orkney Springs and stopped for peaches at Paugh's orchard nearby."
