  • Getaway with 16 year old grandson

"This past week I spent four days in Mountain Whisper with my 16 year old grandson. He is high functioning asperger. We were quite pleased with our experience. The cabin was an excellent base camp as we fished, took the Luray Cavern tour, hiked, and found isolated areas to teach him how to shoot using my pellet rifle. Shenandoah River Outfitters is just down the hill from the cabin and the variety of their rentals should support most desires to spend time on the river. The cabin was immaculate when we arrived and the kitchen was very well stocked with eating and cooking utensils. It was not what I would have expected in a cabin - the appliances were in excellent condition - well honestly, i don't know if the stove worked because as two guys we didn't cook much indoors, but the microwave and refrigerator were excellent. I have seen several reviews on various sites commenting on the bed being only "full" size. The smaller of the 3 bedrooms has a full size bed but the other beds are definitely queen size. I rate my experience as 5 stars, not because it is the best cabin I have ever stayed in but because the cabin was exactly what my grandson and I needed and it met all expectations based on the various website descriptions. My grandson was especially happy having civilization (Walmart) relatively close by and he would recommend MIndi's for their chips and salsa. Jim D."

  • Amazing place and staff

"We came up for a weekend of baseball and this house is amazing rustic relaxing. The morning were beautiful with horses everywhere. The kids enjoyed feeding them every morning. The pool was clean and had lots of fun toys. Anita and Colin were awesome they were so nice and helpful. We came from our last game and Colin had setup a fire pit and wood for us to roast marshmallows. Plenty of space for a few families to enjoy this piece of heaven. We had the ball team over to cook out in between games and everyone loved the place!! Can't say enough about Anita and Colin and the whole environment"

  • Cozy and Relaxing Way to Ring in the New Year!

"Beautifully decorated, festive, warm and cozy! The perfect place to be with family and friends to ring in the New Year! My family thoroughly enjoyed the grounds and having a fire in the fireplace each evening. The kids ran around the spacious grounds, roasted marshmallows and swam in the Jacuzzi tub. During the day, we were close to many fun natural sites. We visited Grand Caverns, Natural Chimneys and Mount Crawford Creamery. The kids enjoyed feeding the baby cows! My mother and mother-in-law enjoyed the quilt shops and farmers markets nearby. Great, quality time with family! Thank you!"

  • Wonderful Shenandoah Getaway Jim S.

"My wife and I had a great 4 night stay at Annette's beautifully restored 1800's log cabin! The cabin was a perfect place to return home to after hiking the Shenandoah National Park. We really liked the cabin's modern but tasteful decor. Very comfortable while still preserving a log cabin feel. We really appreciated the extras like the kitchen long bar/counter, the hot tub, and a great deck/patio for sitting, reading, and taking in the quiet and peaceful mountain views. The cabin was clean and all the appliances were modern and functioned well. The surrounding wooded property also added to a nice quiet and relaxing spot for my wife and I and our dog. Annette, thanks for creating such a special place for us to visit and enjoy the Shenandoah area! I would highly recommend this cabin to couples or families looking for a great and relaxing getaway!"
