  • Tranquility

"This is a sweet cabin in the forest. Great deck to have coffee, read a novel and while away the hours. I got some much-needed R&R here, and my dog loved roaming around the property. I'd love to go back in the colder weather and enjoy the fireplace, too. Linda is a thoughtful hostess - seems like everything I needed was there. Thank you for a lovely stay."

  • Peaceful, beautiful country cottage

"We had a wonderful stay in May at Seven Oaks Cottage. The facilities were just as described, very clean and comfortable, and so homely with lots of personal touches and plenty of leaflets and advice about the surrounding area. We visited Staunton, the Frontier Culture Museum the Skyline Drive and Charlottesville - all an easy drive from the cottage. We also enjoyed the fresh eggs the owners gave us from their chickens! The owners were very helpful and friendly, whilst also respecting our privacy. We enjoyed seeing all the animals, walking in the forest on the farm and sampling some of the fresh strawberries growing just outside the cottage. The fire pit was great - toasting marshmallows in the flames, spotting fireflies and stargazing over the rolling hills around us - a truly magical stay, thank you so much."

  • Whole family loved this house!

"We rented this chalet for a week at the tail end of ski season (family of 5). We lucked out, as there was a ton of snow on St. Patrick's day this year! The house is about a mile from the ski resort. I walked back and forth a couple times. The roads up to the house are pretty steep. If there is snow, I would take 4-wheel drive if possible. My husband thought his BMW all-wheel-drive could handle it, but no. We got him out eventually, though ;). The owners have arranged for snow removal, so it was a nice surprise when a man with a plow and shovels came by in the afternoon to clear the driveway and walkways. From the pictures online, it's hard to tell if the layout would be convenient or not. In person, it is awesome. The fireplace area is sooo nice, and we had no trouble whatsoever getting a fire going (make sure you use DRY wood, even if you have to pick some up from the 7-11). There is a notebook in the house with directions on how to work absolutely everything, so no worries. I loved that there was a mudroom. I made my kids leave their boots in there so as not to track snow all over the house. It also kept the house warmer because you could close the door to the mudroom and not have a breeze every time someone came inside. The kitchen was on the small side, but well stocked and labeled so you didn't have to open door after door to find something. We had no trouble cooking family dinners. The dining table is a nice size. The bedrooms are spacious. The master bedroom was very comfortable. The showers have decent water pressure. Everything works as it should. The basement is a nice recreation room. The kids loved the ping-pong and darts, and of course the TV. It was great to have a selection of dvd's to choose from. The basement is finished, warm and inviting, and has its own bathroom, so it is a nice place to hang out. It was especially nice that the owners allowed us to bring our little dog. He was overjoyed to finally be able to come with us on a vacation. He was so excited to have a change of scene and be able to explore someplace new. It make it more fun for all of us to have him there. Angie the owner was very easy to work with, no trouble at all with payment and refund of deposit. She was even able to accommodate our request for a late checkout - much appreciated! By the end of the trip, my 19 yr old daughter asked if we could buy the house! Had to say no, since it's not for sale, and we are tuition-poor :(."

  • Nature at its Best!

"Impeccable. The comforts of home combined with the feeling of rest & relaxation of the great outdoors. Since this was a weekend visit we appreciated not having to pack all sorts of gear...Cabin is thoughtfully stocked with all that a family could possibly want or need. Hull's Drive In brought back fond memories, as did the drive through Safari Park.Goshen Pass is a must see. Secluded to a point but not too far away for exploring!. Grands paddled up & down the Maury River. We loved that we could sit on the porch & with a view of the water as well as the meadow. Just a little bit of heaven. Every detail was well thought out. This will surely be added to "our favorites" with the hopes that we will return someday soon. Added bonus was that the Bichon's were allowed to accompany us. Thank You, Judy March & Family"
