  • The Cliffhanger at Massanutten

"We oohed and aahed as soon as we walked into the home. One whole wall is floor to ceiling windows overlooking the slopes. This main floor living room is large, open to the dining room and kitchen and was the main gathering place for our family of 11 ranging in age from 1 to 70. I loved that even when I was in the kitchen, I was still with everyone. We were all able to sit at the table together. There is also a loft and downstairs rec area which some of us used occassionally. The bedrooms are large with doors to the wrap- around decks and closets so large that our kids put port-a-cribs in them and used them as nurseries for the babies. There are four full baths so each adult couple had their own bath and there was another that was shared by the teens. Perfect. The owners supply all the basics (some places I looked at don't even supply towels) and give you a list in advance of things you might want to bring. They are very easy to talk to and had my deposit in the mail even before we got home. We had the best time. The owners even had a Christmas tree there for us. The weather was cold enough for them to make snow on the slopes but warm enough that we didn't have to deal with ice or snow on the roads. The access road to the house is very steep and I do think it might have been a problem for our little rental car and this aging Floridian. Our kids seemed much less concerned. The resort is impressive. We had debated between Wintergreen and this and this was by far the better choice for us. Although every one skied the first few days and loved it, we had rain the morning of our last day. Those in our party that are less that avid skiers relished the chance to go to the water park. (Bring towels- they don't rent them) There is so much to do in addition to skiing (see the website) and there is always that possibility of less than perfect skiing conditions. One thing I didn't see on the website but was great was a ski program for 4 to 11 year olds that runs from 8:30 - 1:30. - One instructor for six kids of the same age. Our 4 yr. old grandson loved it and was skiing by day 2. Although in advance, the vote on where to go was divided, after our visit, it was unanimous to return to Massanutten next year."

  • Awesome!!!

"We stayed here for my birthday weekend and it was one of the most beautiful and warm places I've stayed. Mary was so helpful and kind. She made us breakfast both days and I must say it was better than any restaurant food u can find!!!! The place was clean and spacious and looks exactly like the pictures. It offered a hot tub in the common room and a jacuzzi in our suite she also had a couples bike to ride along with games and a fire pit area which were lovely!!! We were welcomed with a cheese tray and our room had hot chocolate, coffee and candy..a girls dream.... We plan on coming back as many times as we can....This will be a permanent bed and breakfast for us!!!!!"

  • Peaceful and serene getaway spot.

"We loved our stay at Rose Hill. The owners were attentive and easy to work with, both before and after our stay, and it is evident that they love this home and want to share it with those who can appreciate it. The website gives a good indication of what to expect. The house is old and historic, so it has some quirks that make it an interesting place to stay, but the bathrooms and kitchen are modern. The sunny back porch was a delightful place to sit and watch the cows, donkey, woodchucks, and the spectacular mountain landscape. The well-equipped kitchen is beautiful, with nice appliances and ample work and storage space. Rose Hill was a great home base for exploring nearby Lexington and Staunton, as well as having access to numerous hiking trails. The house was clean and well maintained. The house is very close to I-81, so the road noise is always in the background, but the serenity of the spot is a wonderful place to rejuvenate the spirit."

  • All property expectations were met!

"The photos and descriptions were completely accurate and the accommodations were clean. The place was inviting and our family (ages 6 and 11) felt right at home. The location was quiet and perfectly set in between all the resort activities. We visited during spring break week and if you want to participate in any of the resort activities including the water park that week, I would recommend arriving when they open. We arrived at the water park at noon and stood in line for 2 hours. Other outdoor activities had long lines as well. Regardless, we had a lot of fun and would definitely return."
